I know you can buy refillable mugs at the resorts, but don't plan on spending much time hanging around the resort. We're taking a back-pack cooler with water bottles, but SIL doesn't drink water. Do the parks sell refillable mugs? If so can they be used at all the parks (as we have park hopper passes) or are they park specific. Thanks! :)

I know that Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach sell refillable mugs, but I don't think the other parks do. Maybe someone else would have info on those parks.

At the water parks they do have refilliable mugs. At MK, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot they do not. It is a health code restriction. Once something is passed through the window at the counter, a CM cannot bring it back inside. The water parks have places you can fill up your mugs yourself. Animal Kingdom is in a different county than the other parks, so the will do the mug refills there. I used to be a CM (I did the College Program), and several people were upset they bought a big plastic cup, and couldn't refill it. You can buy another soda, and just pour it in your plastic cup, there is just not a discount.

Thanks for the good info. Guess SIL better learn to drink water :)

dtum,

We will be on our very first trip in April and again in July- I am NOT a water drinker but have heard of the heat we will be faced with- I will be drinking water... if she can't drink straight water (I know how very hard it is, believe me) get a few boxes of the single serve drink flavors from Wal-Mart or any other local grocer that you frequent... It can help- (plus real easy to carry a few single serve packs around in a sling bag or what have you)
Also, I drink Vitamin Water- It is water w/ flavor and no "artificial sweetener"- flavored w/ naturel flavorings, sugar, and vitamins- very very good and just like water intake- (there is one flavor that still seems to dry me out - I think it is the cranberry flavored one) but she could grab a case of those at Sam's Club it is like $16- for a case of 24... very affordable! 6 flavors and they sell in an assorted case
I can't take artificial sweeteners- tastes horrible to me so I drink Vitamin water a lot now- It has helped greatly- and very refreshing...
Good Luck but I would mention to her to grab one or two and taste and then buy a case to take or if you are flying check the local grocer at the park for availability.

Hi there! I am just back from the World, and I'll tell ya what I did....

I am a big water drinker, and used to regularly spend $10 a day AT LEAST just on water, because the flavor of what comes out of the fountains just didn't work for me.

This trip, I vowed to save that money, and took my trusty SIGG bottle (one of the aluminum ones, with the "bottle" top, not the twist off") and bought some different single-packs of sugar free tea/koolaid/crystal light. It fit perfectly into my Heys crossbody bag, which is small, but has the mesh pouch for a drink.

It worked fabulously. I'd get water out of the fountain, and add my mix (i liked the green tea with honey & lemon the best --- I will NEVER take any that have color (grape, punch, whatever) because those little powder packs can make a holy mess... it takes so little of the powder to make a massive stain... learn from me). I didn't buy a single bottle of water the whole trip. I'd rinse out the bottle at night, and use a washcloth to clean the top.

Also! We stayed at POFQ, so we had fridges... I took a Brita pitcher and filled it every day so I'd have water in the room at night. That also worked really well.

Good luck!

I have these cloths from Palmolive that are dry but when you add water to them they suds up with dish detergent. I bring these w/ me when I have to fly somewhere so I don't have to lug dish soap w/ me. I even cut them in half as the full size is not necessary for a few cups. I even use these for my DD's sippy cups & bottles.

From what I've read and experienced, you can bring any kind of drink into HS, MK and Epcot... you can even bring them in small coolers (just none on wheels). AK is the exception - I know there are restrictions, or used to be, about what could be brought into the parks because of the wildlife - but I can't remember the details... perhaps someone else knows??

I have two little boys and I always take a small soft cooler filled with water, juices, and soda, we store it under the stroller or if renting one we set it on top of the stroller so we don't have to carry it around. Screw caps are the best so you can reclose them if they don't drink it all and stick it back into the cooler. I make sure to bring enough to have for lunch, saves $2.50 a person. I also bring snacks. We have never had anyone tells us we can't bring them into the park at the security check. We are DVC members and go twice a year.
