As a family of 5, we decided to drink water at our meals... 5 people, 10 days, we could save a good chunk of change!

I heard the water is nasty, we don't have the best tasting water in Houston, but at a restaurant with ice (or lemon!) don't even notice it!

So question is... is it really that bad?

Yes, it's that bad. If I want water when I'm at Disney, I get bottled water.

Is the water in the restaurants filtered? When we went the water in the restaurants was fine, and I'm used to drinking filtered water.

I don't think the water in the restaurants is as bad as the drinking fountains.

I drank water with most TS meals when we were there last year since I wanted to have tea with my dessert and you can't do both on the DDP. I'm from Jersey and did not find it any different from the water here.

DW and I almost always drink water with our meals at WDW and elsewhere. Generally we ask for ice water with a slice of lemon. The water we got in the TS restaurants at WDW was *much* better than the water you get out of drinking fountains or straight from the tap in Florida.

That's so true. The water at the CS and TS is fine as far as I'm concerned. The water fountain was kind of nasty even after they were running for a while. We always ask for a cup of ice when eating at CS even if we have our own bottled water and just pour it in to make it ice cold!

What do you mean you cannot do both on the DDP :confused3

You get only one beverage with DDP. If the poster wanted to use the DDP to get the tea, they would have to pay for a beverage with the entree. Therefore, water. I'm assuming not bottled water because that would cost.

I don't have a problem with the water, and I have a resolution that I will not pay extra money for water when there is drinkable water everywhere for no extra charge.

Just a thought... I'm dieting right now, and the only thing I realy drink is my diet 4C mix that I put into my water bottles. Obviously I can't bring that into a restaurnat, so I just chug a whole bunch before I go in, don't drink anything while in the restaurant, than drink when I get out. Drinking durring a meal isn't a big deal to me, so it works!

Growing up in Florida may have deaded my taste buds, but I've never had a problem with the water nor felt that any other water I've tasted elsewhere was vastly superior. Sometimes there can be a sulfur smell to well-water, but Disney doesn't use that (at least not that I know of, it would have to be a fairly impressive well  ). I think you'll be fine. :goodvibes

I don't think the water is that bad, especially if it's really cold. Just a reminder, you can get free ice water at any food vendor that is not a stand-alone cart (like the ice-cream carts). I did this several times a day. It's a great way to stay hydrated without going broke buying sodas.

We found the water fine at both the restaurants and the water fountains ... difference being the water fountain water is seldom cooled. Will admit to being morally opposed to buying bottled water (its a pollution/resources thing ... yeah, I'm a tree-hugger) but have never had any complaints with the tap water at WDW ... and just FYI ... room temperature water will quench a thirst more efficiently than icy cold water and supposedly won't make you have to go to the bathroom as often or fast (so my doctor tells me).

I have drank the water in the resturants pleanty of times never had a problem.

We always drink the tap water in the Disney restaurants - but we ask for lemon wedges. For one thing, water with lemon is refreshing and good for your interal organs, and for another, it deadens, somewhat, the chlorine "flavor". The kids can have soda for lunch (have to have a bit of a treat, we're on vacation!!:lmao: ) but always water - and plenty of it - with dinner. Plus we drink the bottled brands during the day to stay hydrated.

IMHO the water is almost acceptable if you put lemon in it. IDK if Disney is restricting lemon slices though, as some restaurants around here are (I still can't get a straight answer on this though, does anyone else know why we can't get lemon slices out?)

Just a heads up on the lemon wedge in the water ... anyone else see the report that Good Morning America did about this a few weeks ago?!?!? :faint:

Oh dear - I'm afraid to ask - but does this include the restaurants??? And what was the segment about?

The same thing can be said about the ice that's in the water. When you wrk in a restaurant and are wicked busy you don't always have time to use the little ice scooper to fill the ice. I've seen plenty of people just stick the cup in the ice... which leads to the germs from your hands getting on the ice.

It's a dirty world out there but unless you want to live in a bubble you've got to take chances.
