Hey Muggles,

i am Headed to The World in January for marathon. Will be there the 5th to the 15th.

This is my 4th trip down to run and up to this point I have not ventured off site with the exception of a trip to Walmart last year.

I am considering heading over to check out Universal and specifically WWOHP. Just wondering from those of you that have been, is it worth the time and money. Or am I better off waiting til the expansion is complete in a couple years.

I am skipping marathon weekend next year to run either the princess or the wine and dine. So This is last January chance for a bit.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences.

Pat

The theming at WWHOP is amazing, really puts Disney to shame, but it's not a mammoth section of the park. Depending on the time you go, you could probably do it all in about 3 hours at most, that includes going to all the shops, eating and doing the few rides.

Is it worth, in my opinion, yes, just take some time to do the other sections of the park, like Marvel Island and Jurrasic Park.

Thanks fir the info.

I do like coasters and have heard there are a couple in the park that are great. So I think I can definitely fill a day up.

Why not both? Go now AND later, after they expansion.

You know you'll be back (the Wine & Dine will hook you....) so do both. And you can still love Disney too.

Disney maybe the place to start, but no reason not to venture out. There are plenty of other sites to see in the neighborhood.

Bit the bullet. Gonna head over to Universal for a day and check it out. Can't wait. Leaving in 4 days.

I'm late to the party but another vote for going to visit WWoHP...I'm glad you decided to make the trip! I went around a year and a half ago and LOVED that section of the park...granted I'm a huge HP fan and would have loved almost anything they put together, but the themeing was really tremendous. Back when I visited, it was March/April-ish and crowds were a concern because it was newer but we were there well before opening and went straight to the WWoHP section...followed the advice of some folks on the Universal boards actually. We were able to enjoy it almost to ourselves for several hours and it was wonderful. There are some excellent rides in other sections of the park as well. I hope you have a great trip!

We went to Islands of Adventure the during first week of December on our 11 day Orlando trip. I have been to IOA before but not Harry Potter. IOA is a great park though it has less for me to ride as I get motion sick very easy. No coasters, or spinning or simulators for me. But I had to try the Forbidden Journey. Hogwarts village is awesome though small. I am not a Harry Potter fan as far as the movies go (They were fine enough) but the themeing in this "land" is excellent. I only saw about 25% of the ride as I had to close my eyes. I was sooooo sick when I got off but I would say this is one of the top theme park rides in the world. Spiderman is a great ride as well. I think taking time to go to both Universal parks is well worth it.
