Drinking in the Parks

Fortunately they don't water down the beer ;) also la cava margaritas are plenty strong- as well as several other drinks- just have to know what to get!

I was going to post that about the margaritas as well.;) They're plenty strong.

My theory is that they're spending Other People's Money.

Or they don't have other financial obligations; i.e. live rent free with parents, etc.

Um, how about they budget ahead of time what they think they'll spend? My husband and I are going down next month and I've budgeted for out-of-pocket food & alcohol costs (we're on the deluxe dining plan).

I think it's pretty rude to make assumptions like that.

I've seen groups with shirts on that said Drunk 1, I'm Here for Wine, and my favorite (not) was a large group of 30ish years olds who all had on shirts that said "Hi Ho Hi Ho It's Off To Drink I Go. We decided that with the F&W going on this weekend we wouldn't take our grandchildren to Epcot until next week. Much to my dismay, when we were at Hollywood Studios there were people walking around carrying a cup of beer. Is it just me or do others feel the same?

Yes, totally agree. I wish they would ban alcohol in all WDW parks. No need for it there.

DH and I are at WDW now. We've been to Epcot during F&W four days over the past couple of weeks and yes, we've enjoyed and walked around with several expensive, but budgeted for, alcoholic beverages.

My personal issue is huge, body to body, crowds so we have chosen to not only drink alcohol, but we've even done it early in the day - after all, it's five o'clock somewhere, right? We then leave World Showcase by early afternoon when crowds build and head back to the Future World side of the park. Yesterday, the last Saturday of F&W, crowds were seriously huge by about 1pm so after a quick trip around to pick up our do-over favorites we were outta there. I saw many groups of folks (I'm assuming lots of locals) who had obviously planned the day. They were in groups with many home printed (I assume) matching tshirts with lots of Disney themed drinking logos that apparently offended the OP. All were tasteful and I thought most were cute. I had investigated all aspects of touring the parks on the 'net so I already knew about this phenomenon and knew to avoid it (weekends and late nights) if I chose.

In support of the OP, I do agree that I probably wouldn't bring young children at night on weekends during F&W just as I wouldn't bring young children on a weekend night to a bar & grill type of restaurant back home that is perfectly acceptable to them early in the day. If I were offended by, or sensitive to, people drinking I wouldn't attend then either, I suppose. He and his family would probably be happier attending F&W earlier in the day or during the week. That way it works for all of us.

This is our third F&W and even in the "off season" there is plenty to drink at World Showcase. That is part of sampling the other cultures, in my opinion. People being over the top rude or obnoxious is offensive whether they are drunk or sober. I, personally, have been much more offended and irritated by people loudly swearing, screaming at their children or spouses, wearing clothing that barely covers anything, pushing/cutting/stopping in the middle of a walkway, using the flash on dark rides, and many of the other universal pet peeves. Now, if they'd just sell me a nice cold beer in the afternoon at MK :rotfl2:

So I imbibe on occasion as well, however I know how to do it responsibly. Last March we were down for our anniversary and a young fellow in epcot didn't. He began with being silly at the bus station, then further began to get belligerent, and finally got into my bus-mates face with very unfriendly comments. He was "educated" after we got off of the bus at POR.
Drinking and amounts are all decisions that we each have to make. When the parks allow a game of "drinking around the world" then they need to expect idiots to make bad decisions. They also need to expect that several of us non-idiots will refuse to allow that idiocy to interfere with our good time.

Thank you morals police, let me know what malls or schools you go to as well so I know what to avoid. I find alcohol needed to remove the screaming mom or tired crying kid sounds from my trip. I don't get plastered but a nice drink def is something I enjoy at the parks and resorts.

There's nothing wrong with walking around with a cup of beer in a place that sells beer. I think it's good for my children see me drinking responsibly so that they learn that you can have a drink or two without getting drunk.

I rarely drink, but I don't think banning alcohol is reasonable at WDW. I don't necessarily think it has a place in MK, but if I'm at Le Cellier....I'm probably getting a wine pairing with my dinner. Alcohol in the parks at least brings revenue for Disney, unlike smoking....which was brought up in another thread.
