Drinking At Work - Should I Confess?

I'm still wondering why so many people think it's ok to drink at work.


If you are having issues with meds, why wouldn't you call your doctor instead of drinking tequila?

It's not a matter of any of us thinking it's ok for her to drink at work--her employer condones it. Her dr told her it's ok to have a drink and it sounds as if her reaction to the medication is normal, albeit annoying.

Let's see... where I work, but under old management, they bought us a keg of beer EVERY Friday night in the summer.... FOR YEARS.

I was once in our VP of Operations office and we threw down about 5 shots each.

In Decemeber 2007, we had beer brought in by the station, to drink at our in house party for the holidays.

My previous immediate boss had a whole liquor bar in her office... we would share the occasional shot of Jack.

Our sports department used to keep several bottles of liquor in plain view on their bookshelves. If I wanted some, I just took it. No hiding it.

One of our people used to go accross the street and get drunk on his lunch break a few times a week. Management knew it and didn't care; they said he worked better when drunk.

Maybe we are ( were ) a huge exception, but alchohol was EVERYWHERE.

I worked in a few places where it was perfectly acceptable too. I had one CEO who was a alcohol pusher....drove ya nuts if you didnt have a drink!

I've worked for attorneys. Believe me, it's not only acceptable, it's expected. Not to mention necessary.

I worked briefly at a magazine office. There were rampant drinking and smoking around the office.... it was a very odd scene.

My boss can be like that. She doesn't take no for an answer sometimes - and always during work hours. She insisted on giving me some red wine once and I hate red wine. I took it to my desk and she kept coming by to see if I was drinking it. So, I gradually poured it into a empty pop can that was in my trash can.

I'm just wondering which of these great places are hiring? Totally makes me rethink the whole SAHM thing. I think I am missing out by not working.

To the OP I am sorry you are going through the side effects of your meds. BTDT and it isn't fun. Hang in there and buy your own flask if you have to.
