Drinking Around the World

Every time DW and I have tried this and started in Mexico, we failed. We were pretty much like the article describes. Only we didn't stick to only beer. We were mixing it up.

We finally conquered this feat back in Dec. 2012. We started from Canada instead and worked our way towards Mexico. Success, although we were already feeling pretty good by the time we got to China.

I think we are going to try doing this as well! But we will also definitely be mixing it up. We love beer, but there are definitely some liquor based drinks in other countries that we can't pass up! Maybe we'll start at Canada like you did :).

We also tried starting in Mexico and failed, we will now try the Canada start.

Does anyone know roughly how much drinking around the world costs? I'm going in 3 weeks and am already putting cash aside for this.
$200?

DH and his friend did this in December. They started in Canada. Well actually the UK as Canada wasn't open, the back to Canada.

They also had an ice cream martini in France, as the principal planner and font of Disney knowledge I neglected to explain all their options and they had already ordered a slushie each! There was also a fair amount of tequila consumed in LA Cava.

I think DH budgeted around $200.

Dh did this last year. I gave him 100 bucks. He had a few extra dollars at he end. He drank beer in the countries. He probably had tequilla in Mexico too.

We also did it about 20 years ago. I don't remember much other than feeling sick around France. I was mixing beers/drinks. Big mistake.

I suggest grabbing snacks in the countries to absorb the liquid. lol

Haha I love it. I think I'll budget $200 just in case. And I plan on being a piggy to make sure everything gets soaked up and balanced :)

I was planning about $100 or so per person for this as well :). We REALLY want to get it done in one day (we are in our 20's and have pretty high tolerances). But I also do NOT want to get sick, so we will break it up in 2 days if we absolutely have to!

I think we are going to do this on an afternoon where we don't have ADR's for dinner. Then we'll just use a bunch of our snack credits to snack around the world while we drink around the world :).

ThT was really funny. The parts about the strollers is so true. The uphill part for America was pretty funny too. It's funny to hear an outsiders view of Disney if not an avid goer like most of us here are.

Did this back in May for 1st time. Started in Mexico also . What helped us (2-DD's DW and DB(boyfriends) was an hour rainstorm right around America. We HAD to duck in the restaurant and ride the storm out. Had we bought more American beer while in there it would have been trouble. We didn't and the break gave us all a fair chance to finish ! Only DW did not accomplish the feat.
Only real bad part was basically our pace matched a group of twenty something guys who were downing 2 for every one we had. They were quite annoying by the time we got to Japan.:(

I did this in my Nov trip, we were able to finish. You can read about it in more detail in my trip report in my sig :thumbsup2

But we started in Mexico, the key is start early, share most of your drinks, and drink lots of water in between our drinks.
We mostly drank mix drinks instead of beer too.

It also helped they we are coming from altitude and it makes our tolernce much better in lower altitude areas too :cool1:

Also got this shirt and we checked off on the back of my shirt every place we went to. Soo much fun.

Our only area we disliked was America, why can they not have local craft breweries, in Colorado we have really good selection of beer, so we really hated our options in US and would have skipped it, if it were not on the list.

We had Shirts made for the events, very professional and everyone at Epcot was cheering us on!!! I was always successful and one daughter made it also, the others shared drinks in the countries. Now Morocco has a great outside bar so any drink can be made. Best advice is do in on a night when Epcot is open late:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Bank on $7.50 per drink per person per country-- 11 of them! Enjoy!!!!:cool1::cool1:

On average, I would say drinks range from $7-$10. 11 countries at $10/drink is $110. $200 will cover it for sure.

Ah, but the challenge is to do it in one day. Almost everyone can do it in 2, but 1 is the ultimate goal. If you want to count doing it in 2 days, then I've been successful every time. :rotfl: Pick up where we left off the day before and finish no problem.

We started with an ADR at Le Cellier. You will probably want a little more than snacks to help you along the way.

If you start as soon as World Showcase opens, you will get through it. You will have 10 hours in which to accomplish this. You would need to average at least one drink every 54 minutes or so.

Share drinks? Wouldn't that be considered cheating? Challenge is for each person to have their own drink. Yes, water helps. Make sure and know where the next restroom is located as well. :rolleyes2

We come from altitude as well. I know exactly what you mean.

Also got this shirt and we checked off on the back of my shirt every place we went to. Soo much fun.

I like this idea. May try it next time if we ever get to go back.
