I just had a quick question...kinda silly but I just had to ask.

Does Florida have the same law that you have to be 25 to drink with an out of state drivers license? A few years ago I went to Massachusetts and I was 24 and they wouldn't serve me because I was from out of state. They told me Mass law says that you must be 25 if out of state. I honestly have never heard this before and thinking back on it Im wondering if the guy was breaking my stones. :confused3
My sister will turn 22 while were in Disney, and I wanted to make sure she could have a drink there.

Thanks for the info..

I'm almost 100% positive that she'll be able to drink.

During my first trip to WDW with my kids in 2001 I was only 24 and they let me drink (I'm from California). I didn't drink a lot, but I remember getting a couple of fruity mixed drinks at the pool bar and also a free glass of wine at Jiko.

No one said anything about being under 25.

I always thought the legal age was 21. My DD goes to college in MA, from out of state, next year. I'm thrilled if she can't drink in MA until she's 24! I'll look into it for ya!

Thats what I thought. If your 21, then you can drink. Thats why I'm thinking I just went to the wrong place in Mass.

My DS is 23. He's been drinking at WDW since he was 21. He drank his way around the world at the first night of the F&W Festival last month. It shouldn't be a problem. Have fun!

It's 21 as far as I know. My children were able at that age and we're from NJ. No problems.

Florida resident here drinking age is 21 for everyone.

I think someone was pulling your leg in MA. I visited there several times in my early 20s and did PLENTY of drinking. Of course, that was 10 years ago. I just can't imagine enforcing this law.

Okay...my age is showing. The first trip I ever took to Disney World I was only 19 and just my girlfriend and I went. We were both able to drink because that was the drinking age in Florida (I was from Illinois where it was 19 for beer and wine and 21 for hard liquor at that time). They changed it about a year after I turned 19 to 21 across the board.

Just one mention on the drinking at Disney World. The enforced rule is that it's one person, one drink. So with my husband and me, he cannot go and get two drinks for us without me being there with him. They bend the rule somewhat if the server can see the other person but for the most part, don't expect to walk away from a cart with two drinks in your hand. The rule gets some people extremely ticked off sometimes.

I think they've changed this rule now to two drinks per one id. We were just there and DH bought us both drinks several times without me being present, and the signs on the f&w festival booths all state 2 drinks per id.

Actually, if you have two forms of ID you can drink with an out of state license...or just a Passport works too. Also, thats not everywhere in MA...its only certain venues (Fleet Center and I think the Tweeter Center) I actually had beer confiscated from me at a concert when I was 23 (the first time I dealt with this ridiculous rule) But no, the drinking age is 21 everywhere...

No, she'll be able to drink pretty much everywhere except the 2 venues I know of where they enforce that dumb rule...and even then if she has a second form of ID she'll be fine...

I should mention those were the rules a few years ago when I was under 25...

1) I think someone's chain has been royally yanked.
2) The legal drinking age in the USA is 21 years old.
3) Although some local communities, cities, counties, venues have special laws.
4) By the way, the USA is the ONLY country that has 21 as a drinking age.

NOTE:
No country in the world has a drinking age over 21.
. . . there are 10 that have no minimum age
. . . there are 13 that have 16 years as a minimum age
. . . there is 1 that has 19 as a minimum age
. . . there are two that have 20 as a minimum age
. . . the rest have 18 as the minimum age

NOTE2:
For the real confuser.
In many US states, you CAN drink LEGALLY under 21 years old.

Thats where I was, at the Tweeter Center! Thats where they told me I had to be 25 if out of state. Then maybe it was just the venue...Oh well, Thats for all the responses!
I feel a little stupid asking such an obvious question:blush:

My nephew turned 21 while we were there and he sure did have a drink at PI. Or two or three. LOL.

I work as a Bartender in Massachusetts. A lot of college area bars have this "rule" (not law but rule) in effect to prevent people with fake IDs (rampant near colleges) coming and drinking in their establishments.
A lot of times, if people present a second form of ID they will be allowed to drink with an out of state license. Establishements can set up their own rules of who to serve. Some bars have 25 plus nights where people can not even get in if under that age.

It is just to protect the bar or venue from being fined for serving minors (which they can be fined even if they serve someone with a fake ID). It really serves two purposes. When seeing a MA licence, since we see them every day, it is very easy to see one that is fake and spot it right off the bat. Because we don't see IDs from lets say Maryland everyday, it is harder so some people ask for another form of ID. If you don't have we can refuse service to protect ourselves. Of course if you appear to be 45 or something, we would never do that. But if you appear to be 20ish we will.

This is correct...at least as of July (and May). ;)
