I got hooked on a drink on the Dream a week ago -- a Tropical Depression. It's STRONG (it has gin, tequila, and a bunch of other things... and IT'S PURPLE -- I think blue curacao and grenadine). Of course, I don't know exactly how to make it, and google was not my friend as it didn't show the same ingredients.

I went to 687 and Oscar would make it for me (he's SOOOO NICE!)... also Wellington in the District Lounge made it once.

Does anyone know how to make it? Or would anyone about to sail on the Dream be willing to ask for the "recipe" and PM it to me (unless you want to post it). I would be so grateful to be able to relive my DREAMy vacation with this delicious drink! Thanks!

 :cool1: :rotfl: :yay: :woohoo:

I think this is what you're looking for...had the same addiction to the Sunken Treasure and went through sooooo much to find the recipe, lol...wound up just asking about it on my next cruise and now it's a huge hit at home!!!

Tropical Depression

1 oz lemon vodka
1 oz rum
1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz blue curacao
lemon mix
grenadine
sprite

Use as much/as little of the lemon, grenadine, and sprite as you like to get the taste/color how you like it.

This doesn't have tequila in it...are you sure about that one?

That is pretty darn close... I remember Oscar saying tequila and I was like DANG!... lol And he used lime too...

But I'll give this a whirl until I see anything else!

THANKS!

(We are sailing again in July, but I don't want to wait that long... lol)

I saw this thread and had to LOL! My DH and DBrother got hooked on this same drink on the Dream two weeks ago. My SIL and I were all about the High Tide, even when it wasn't the drink of the day. I'll have to pass this recipe onto my DH....maybe. ;)

From what I remember the Tropical Depression was a long island ice tea with Blue Caracuo substituted for one of the normal items in it. Unfortunately I can't remember which, If I remember I'll ask when were onboard at the end of the month

Christina, one of the bartenders at the Cove Cafe bar, (in the adult pool!) made this for me as we enjoyed the pool before we sailed out from PC on the second leg of our B2B in August. YUM!

Of course, we no sooner had this drink and then our ship sailed off right into Hurricane Irene...! Hmmmmm....! :rotfl2:

This is my favorite "summer" drink and we always make it at home when sitting by the pool. ;)

On our recent cruise on the Dream however we had some bartenders making variations of it. 2 were also adding triple sec, so we started asking for it without. We did this to a different bartender on CC, Nika, and she looked at us and said "There isn't Triple Sec in it". LOL! She had it right. :thumbsup2

One other bartender started pouring Tequila to make one, but I stopped her. DH kept his with Tequila. ;)

On the Wonder in Dec, I got some that were blue, so they must have left out the Grenadine.

I like the original recipe noted on the menu above.

I was just reading this, thinking that I have to keep it away from your brother. Uh Oh!

The recipe on the menu sounds yummy! I think I'd go without the tequila, but, I'm a light weight!

What's in a High Tide??

I tried ravenslight's recipe from above (except I used regular vodka, and lime juice instead of lemon), and added a little tequila, and I'll just say I'm feeling mighty fine right now!

Ahhhh... but only if I were still on the Dream!

:cool1:

The Tropical Depression was only $5.95 in the 687 and District Lounge (SHOCKING AWESOME PRICE!)... Careful at Cove Cafe -- they charge $10+/each!

From what I remember it has the same white liquors that are in Long Island Iced Tea. You sub Blue Curacao for the tripplesec and grenadine for the bar mix and sprite for the coke.

That's how I make it at home anyway.

I went on the Disney Cruise Line and got hooked on their "Tropical Depression" drink, too! Afterwards, I couldn't find a bartender anywhere that could make it. So I wrote to the customer service of the cruise line and they sent me the recipe. Here it is (all 7 ingredients):

1/4 oz Vodka
1/4 oz Rum
1/4 oz Gin
1/2 oz Blue Curacao
5 oz Sour Mix
dash Grenadine
top w Sprite

It should have a nice blue color. Enjoy!

Mine usually come out more purple than blue but I think it depends how much Grenadine they put in. 1688422707700.png

Sounds like a AMF (adios ........) also sometimes called a blue motorcycle
