We are having our planning meeting later this month and I am trying to figure our what type of drink package we need.

Even though our reception is an early brunch (pre-reception starts at 10:00 and reception is from 11:00 to 3:00) I am planning on offering drinks to our guests. As most are traveling from the NY/NJ area I can't imagine not offering drinks - even though most are not heavy drinkers.

Based on 3 hours of service (but we will probably add more hours) the price of Soda, Water, Beer and Wine is $22.00 per person. If you add alcohol to this the price goes to $27.00 per person (a addition of $5.00 for the 3 hours). Now, I believe just getting a single alcoholic drink at Disney is over $7.00 each. Wouldn't it make sense to just use the full package rather then just the beer and wine package for the additional $5.00. If each person orders at least one drink in that time frame, it more then covers the additional $5.00 charge.

Am I figuring this our right?

Thanks,
Linda

when we were planning a wishes ceremony we were planning to do the bill on consumption bar. If you don't think they'll drink more than 3 alcoholic or 5 non alcoholic drinks each, you'll come out ahead. For a lunch thing that's what I would do.

I am definately getting the package with wine and beer. I am sure most people will drink that. Not sure what to do about drinks.

As our pre-reception is from 10:00 to 11:00 I am not sure what time to start the wine, beer and drinks. I don't know how many people will want to drink that early. I was going to do soda, water, juices and coffee and tea at the pre-reception and start the other stuff at 11:00 when the reception starts (I just can't picture someone drinking beer at 10:00 in the morning.

Thanks,
Linda

That is a toughy! Do your guests typically drink earlier when on vacation? Because 11 is a little early for drinking to begin but when I'm on vacation I usually have a drink with lunch. But, if you don't think they'll drink enough to be worth it then maybe the billed on consumption bar would be better.

This was a hard one for us too, our times are essentially the same. We decided coffee/tea/juice for pre-reception and soda/water pkg for reception with a signature drink. The reason we decided to limit alcohol is we are not doing a traditional wedding reception--dancing, garter... we just wanted a really nice lunch with some wedding touches. Another and the biggy was people drink too much-go back to the hotel and fall asleep-wake up feel awful and dont come/enjoy the dp

Sandy, I have some questions about your signature drink. First, what is it and second what are you being charged for it?

Thanks,
Linda

We had the same timing as you. We did BOC and I highly recommend it for a morning wedding. The only thing that happened that we didn't expect was that our guests were requesting mimosas so we allowed them to open a couple of bottles of champagne. Trust me it was much cheaper than each of them drinking a $7 beer. Our total bar bill came out to less than $100 and if we had done the package it would have been around $1000.
