I oppose it. But not for the normal reasons. I believe that eventually the world is going to run out of fossil fuels and that it would be nice to have ANWR as our back up supply of oil. I'm taking the long view of it. I'd rather use up someone else's oil before digging into our reserves.

Exactly how I feel.

I don't think oil has to stay in the ground forever but i want my children's nursing home to have affordable heat. That's why i don't understand the split on party lines. Seventy years is a LOT of oil from now.

I've been to ANWAR and oppose it. ANWAR is a beautiful place and should be left as alone.

So what does ANWAR look like. My guess is you have been to Alaska and not the actual drilling site. The site was set aside years ago just for the purpose of drilling for oil. The site is a flat frozen tundra with very little wildlife. Its not a place that people would go on vacation or show much interest in visiting. On the great scim of things, the site would resemble an area the size of a postage stamp. Most people see what was shown on CNN yesterday. A mountain range with tall trees and rushing streams, not for what is really is, a cold flat piece of unusable land. This place is only good for oil experation and should be drilled in to provide energy for our country. You probably blame the oil companies for the high gas prices, next time you fill up, blame the congress of the united states.

If we didn't export 30%-40% of the oil already produced
domestically we wouldn't have to rely so stinkin' much on
the middle east. Besides, I have yet to see proposed legislation
or a guarantee from the oil companies that reserves in ANWR
would be for domestic use only.

But you don't rely heavily on the middle east for your oil you rely on Canada and Mexico for your oil and a very small % of it from the Middle East.

If we stopped looking for petroleum and started exploiting our country's natural resources by producing biofuels, could we perhaps not only solve our oil dependency issues but also export those fuels to other countries, effectively reversing the trend to use more energy than we produce?
