Hello! First of all I'm Olivia and I'm new here :) I'm so excited about my upcoming trip to Disney!
I was wondering about dressing up in Disney. I'm 16 and I don't want to look stupid but I would love to dress up as a princess when I eat at Cinderella's castle
So should I do it? My little sisters (13 & 8) will probably dress up too and it's not like I'm going to go everboard (I'll probably just wear a cute dress and some kind of tiara) but I'm still not sure if this would looke sweet or silly...
Second question, it's about clothes in Disney... I love my clothes so I don't want to wreck them. Has anyone actually ever stained/broked a piece of clothing in Disney? Any clues for how I should dress for the parks? For restaurants? I will be going first week of march so is it gonna be cold outside? What kind of shoes should I wear? Haha I know this is silly but I'm a girl after all?

Actually, only little kiddies are allowed to wear costumes in disney world.
I mean, if its a normal dress, but you're wearing a tiara, I'm sure you'd be fine. But so people arn't mistaken as cast members, only kids can wear costumes. I'm not sure what the age limit is, but Im pretty sure its younger than 16..

Anyways, as long as it doesn't look too costume-y, I'd say go for it, lol. :)

Hi Olivia welcome to the DIS and the Teen Boards! I'm Alice, great to see you.
To answer your questions, most people really don't dress up for a day in the parks or for in-park restaurants. It's so hot and so much walking that it's really best to wear casual, comfortable clothing.
When it comes to dressing as a princess, Disney actually has a rule about 10 being the age limit you can dress in costume

As for clothes, since you'll be outside for a good part of the day, staining is very possible. I don't worry much about my clothes though, I just wear shorts and a cute top usually. I'm not sure about the weather in March, and as for shoes- I usually wear comfy sandals, but whatever you wear MAKE SURE IT's COMFORTABLE you'll be doing tons of walking and your feet will most likely hurt at the end of the day.

Hope I helped! - Alice

Who cares what others think?

If you think you look cool, then more power to you. If it's going to make your time more fun and make you have a great time, then dress up. If you think it's just something to do and doesn't really matter and you'll look lame, then don't. It's up to you, not other people what you wear.

As far as clothes, I haven't ruined anything or lost anything, so you should be kosher there.

Agree with this post. A normal dress and tiara would be fine.

But, again, I'd suggest a comfortable dress, and something you wouldn't mind getting in and out of rides in (some with very low seats xD). I guess you could change into said "normal" dress before your dinner if you wanted.

You should definitely dress up at Cinderella's! Seriously, there will be so many people doing it.

In March, it will definitely not be cold, although you might want to brind a hoodie just incase.

For the parks - Dress in whatever is comfortable to you. Some shorts and a t-shirt is normal 'part wear' for most people. (I've never wrecked any clothes at WDW...Why would I?)

Shoes - Something comfortable! My general response is some broken in athletic shoes. But flip flops are good for a lot of teenage girls too. (Like me.)

For the restaurants - Most restaurants you will be fine in your 'park wear', unless you're going to be eating at a signature restaurant. If so, a nice summer dress and some flats will suffice. Or perhaps some cute (non denim) capris? The official signature restaurant dresscode can be found on Disney's website.

Hope I helped, I'd be happy to answer any other questions. Welcome to the DIS, I'm Jenny. :)

As for dressing up for CRT, do it. But only if you know you can go back to the resort and change if you're uncomfortable. I recommend a light knit dress and sparkly dolled-up flip-flops. Heels at WDW are a bad idea.

It will probably not be cold the first week of March. I recommend shorts and maybe a sweater for the evenings. Babydoll tops, polos, and the like will work for the day. It's fairly warm in Florida year-round, so I don't suggest long pants or heavy sweaters. And shoes.... I wear tennis shoes because they're the most comfortable for me. My sister wore flip-flops the past trip, but someone ran over her toe with their double-wide baby stroller and it chipped her nail polish and she was not happy.

As for restaurants, in the parks I just wear what I have on. If it's a resort reataurant and we're going for dinner, I'll dress up a little more, but still casual (sandals and nice capris or bermudas). The only restaurant that requires formal attire is Victoria & Albert's.

Have fun at WDW, Jenny!

first off, welcome to the dis. :]

you cant dress up during normal park hours in the theme parks. for anything. not even dinners. ive seen managers ask people to please change into something else at epcot where i worked when they were going to the princess breakfast.

actually, no one over age 11 is allowed to dress up at disney (this means wearing your snow white halloween costume to disney during may). you can only get away with it for the halloween parties or halloween night at downtown disney. other than that, you cant. you can wear a cinderella head band, or tinks wings, you can wear a princess crown, but you cant come in full character regalia. you can "dress like a princess" by wearing a cute dress and a tiara but thats about it. :/

why?

because you arent being paid to be there when children ask "hi, belle, can i take a picture?"

:]

most disney resteraunts are casual wear. no need to sweat it. and id dress in whatever is you feel is comfortable. i know a lot of my friends wear disney shirts or fun wigs sometimes to get silly pictures. its all about having fun and being comfortable :]

Thought I'd add ;;

When I said it was fine to dress up, I assumed you were talking about a cutesy dress and tiara. Not a full blown polyester filled princess costume. :D

lol thats what i thought too, but i just wanted to be sure...xD

Haha of course I mean a cute dress and a tiara. But I think I'll wear normal clothes and a tiara.

Yeah, I was just gonna say no fluffy dresses. Reasoning I heard is they don't want people getting confused and having people come up to you asking you for autographs and mistaking you for a CM.

if your doing to Disney World make sure you wear tenny shoes.. i wore flip flops and it rain and i slipped many times its dangerous!
