Do alot of kids "dress up" at either CRT or the Princess Storybook Dining meals? Thinking of maybe taking one of DDs princess costumes with us. Anyone done this?

We did for the princess breakfast at Epcot last year and will do it again for dinner with Cinderella and Friends at the Grand Floridian on Wednesday. Our dd loved it and got some extra attention. There were a lot of girls in their princess dresses at the breakfast last year.

between dressed and not. I don't think there is any different interaction accept the comments may focus on the dresses more.

If you have a princess dress already then take it. My daughter really enjoed getting dressed up for CRT. *She likes getting dressed up at home to though)

Oh yes! Yes! Yes! DO take along a princess dress or two for these meals.

Let me tell you a story near and dear to my heart.

Almost 8 years ago fewer children dressed up in princess attire to go to breakfast/lunch/dinner...and then it was almost exclusively to go to "the castle". Lol...even though we do a lot of theatre in our family, I knew this would probably be the last trip our 11 year old twin girls would actually enjoy doing this...sigh...they all do grow up...so I made lunch reservations at "the castle" for our family. Elise chose to be Cinderella in blue and Valerie chose to be Aurora in pink. I altered gorgeous prom dresses to suit the characters. Lol, we still have these costumes. The girls were stunning in their dresses and crowns if I do say so myself. They, themselves were unselfconscious and just enjoying the fun of "being princesses" for a few hours.

After a wonderful lunch during which our waiter played up to them etc...the girls decided to stay in costume for a ride on Cinderella's Carousel. Later that day the girls told me that while they waited in line they overheard a little girl behind them say in awed, hushed tones to her mother, "Mommy, are those girls real princesses?"

That tickled them immensely...and is to this day one of their favorite memories of (lots of) time spent at Disney.

After they rode the carousel we started back to our resort...as we came through the castle breezeway we saw the red, double decker English bus offering rides back to the front. In all of our many trips to Disney, never had it been convenient to take that bus, but today it was a perfect capper to a perfect day in the Magic Kingdom. We all clambered aboard right up to the open air second story of the bus...and the girls waved back to everyone all the way down mainstreet. Lol...on that day, to them, it just couldn't get any better than that.

At that time it was next to impossible to find a pretty princess dress for a pre-teen...but now that's all changed...and for the better in my opinion. Let's keep them kids...at least until they're 12!

So YES, do dress up for the princess meals...LOTS of families have their little girls do this!

I'm editing this to add...only do this if your little girl enjoys dressing up, though...if it isn't something she likes to do it could be torture for her. Although, I think it's more common for little girls to be at a character meal, see other little girls dressed up...and wish they could be dressed up also.

DD has dressed up at CRT, as well as the Epcot princess breakfast and 1900 Park Fare dinner at GF. Since we've also been at both without her dressing up, I can tell you that there isn't much difference in interaction other than comments she'll get about her dress from the characters. If you're DD dresses up, she probably won't be the only one there that is. Be sure to take a change of clothes, including shoes, along in a backpack because her costume may not survive the day if she wears it around the park and those shoes can't be very comfortable. BTW, the best anecdote I have about this is that DD once dressed as Alice for CRT and wore the outfit for a little bit afterwards. When we walked by the Teacups, Alice and The Mad Hatter started screaming at her about wearing Alice's dress: "She's wearing my dress, She's wearing my dress," etc. They brought her up to talk with them and spent a long time talking and playing around with her. Since there were a handful of people that had walked up and were making line to see Alice, I said something like "OK, let's go" when I finished taking a picture or two. This prompted both the Mad Hatter and Alice to start going on and on with comments like "Geesh, would you calm down! Are you always like this? We're not finished with her yet!" I guess you had to be there, but it was cute.

Oh, believe me, DD is a princess: from head to toe. She loves to run along side the little boys in the neighborhood, but she is definitely a princess at heart. We have a trunk full of princess dresses that she plays with just about every day. I believe we'll need to replace a few as they have been worn out. I'm not expecting that she should be treated with extra attention if she were in costume, but I know that if she sees other little girls in their dresses, she will most wonder why she isn't in her dress also. I guess, we will pack one of her dresses with us and allow her to change during out dinner at CRT. I am sure she will feel magical being a princess: in a real castle :cloud9: This will be fun

Our financial situation changed recently, and we almost canceled our trip. My daughter brought me her cinderella castle piggy bank, and said she'd help pay if she could have her birthday with Cinderella. She will be 8 right before our trip, and I'm worried that if we wait another year the "magic" won't be the same. We've had her Cinderella dress for months! She is flying on the plane in it, and going to 1900 Park Fare before MVMCP. If she wants it, do it!

They sure do. I've had breakfast and lunch in the castle, and breakfast at Norway, and there was a lot of kids dressed up.

My DD7 has done it both ways. I think she prefers it when she is dressed up. princess: At PSB the princess that she is dressed like did give her extra attention (Aurora and Ariel). However, I do bring along a change of clothes since the princess dresses aren't the most comfortable things to wear, especially when it's hot. Also, the one time we went in Jan. I had hear wear a white turtleneck under her dress since it was so cold. She changed out of it right after breakfast. If it's at night, she usually wears it until we get back to the room.

HTH. :goodvibes

No, but my dog would love to live up there! He doesn't care too much for the heat and humidity around our parts.

I think I will bring one of her princess dresses to wear to CRT, and maybe to Askerhaus too. She will just be tickled :cloud9:
