When you try clothes on in a store, do you leave what you don't want in the fitting room, or do you return it to where you found it?

I always return it to where I picked it up. It always makes me feel awful for the employees of the store when I walk into a fitting room and see the piles of clothes, most of which aren't even returned to the hangers.

I used to work in retail many moons ago so I always take care of everything and leave the dressing room neat and tidy when I'm done. Even when they insist on taking the items I don't want, I feel kind of guilty and lazy about it!

If I need a different size I will usually return the wrong one to the rack, and get the one I need. But if it's just something I end up not liking I either leave it in the dressing room, put back properly on its hanger of course, or sometimes stores will have racks right outside the dressing room for you to hang things on that you don't want to purchase so then I'll use those.

I never leave them in the fitting room, but I don't put them all back where I found them either. There's always a rack in the fitting room to put all your clothes that you don't want, and that's where I put everything.

I return mine, too, except at this one boutique that has now posted signs in the dressing rooms imploring customers to LEAVE the clothes they are not purchasing in the dressing room. Apparently people tend to not always hang the stuff back in the right place, and it becomes harder to find it and get it where it belongs that way.

Return it to where I got it from. Normally I am heading back that way anyways for a different size or color or whatnot.

if it is just one or two things and i remember where i got them from, i'll put them back. otherwise, i'll put it back on the hanger and leave it in the room.

I don't usually try things on at the stores anymore, unless the store has a really tough return policy. But most stores make it soooo easy to return things. But back in the day when I did, I would return it to the rack whenever they would let me do it.

If there's a return rack, I'll put them there. Otherwise, I'll take them back and put them in the right place. Almost everywhere I go has a rack though. I used to work in a video store and I know it's much easier to give it back to the employees than to put it where it doesn't belong.

Depending on the state of the dressing room, I'll either put it back where I got it, or leave it on the "return" rack.

I usually put things back where I found them. If I have a huge pile, I will leave them on the rack in the fitting room.

When I worked at Marshall Field's I always dreaded 2 departments: Women's and swim wear. Surprisingly, juniors dressing rooms were fairly clean! When I worked in swim, we would wear gloves at the end of the day when we had to go through the dressing rooms and hang all of the suits back up. It does make it very hard to buy a swim suit off the rack.

WHEN I actually try stuff on IN the store, I always take it out of the dressing room and place it on the rack outside the dressing room that they place there for this reason. I suppose that way they can insure it gets back to the right place?

Yuck, not a pleasant thing to think about!

I always put items on the return rack at the fitting room entrance.

Ditto. (Unless I'm getting a different size...then I"ll do it myself)

I once went into a changing room at GAP...I had to fold all the crap that was left in there just so I could put my purse down somewhere.

I'm sorry - but some people are just pigs. If you're not going to take the stuff, fine, but don't trash the place!

I put in on the rack outside the dressing room. I've also learned that I really have to try on clothes before buying them. No matter how much they "look" like they'll fit, I always get home and find a problem, and I hate returning stuff.

I return it to where I got it from unless there is a "bar" that they ask you to put that type of merchandise on. I get so aggravated when I go into a dressing room and have to fight with other pieces of clothing that people have just left in there. The dressing rooms in the mall are the worst!!

None of the stores I shop at have a "return rack". I agree this is a good option. Would be nice if the stores I go to implemented them. I wonder if it's a regional thing. I did see one once at an outlet Liz Claiborne store, but that was the only one.
