So MGM and AKL are probably the two parks my kids won't get wet at, right? (sprinklers at Epcot and MK, I think.) Would it be a good idea to just dress my boys in quick-drying water shorts and packing an extra shirt so they don't have to do a complete change?

Also, how many of you dress the kids the night before so you can make a quick morning get away? Do I even need to bring jammies?

If you do the Kali rapids ride at AK, you might not be wet but you will be SOAKED!!!! I think it is safe to say you will stay dry at MGM.

I've never done the jammies thing.

Have fun!

To answer the 2nd question first.... my kids are early risers, so they wear jammies to bed.

Now, I don't know how old your kids are, but the ride I have gotten absolutely drenched on is at AK -- Kali River Rapids. Seriously, I looked like I took a shower with my clothes on. We did that ride in the evening, and my clothes were still wet the next morning. I got of the ride and started wringing out my clothes and little puddles were forming on the ground -- that's how wet I got. So, like I said, I don't know if your kids are tall enough for that ride, but plan on getting wet if you ride it.

:scared1: Forgot Kali! So I'll bring a change of clothes AND ponchos. Well, probably just clothes...what's the fun if you don't get wet? :goodvibes

For a quick getaway in the morning, we pack a whole outfit in a ziplok bag for each day. Each ds just grabs a bag and gets dressed. BTW - ds's ared 7, 7, and 5.

Sorry to hijack with my own question!:guilty:

In the water fountains that the kids can run through at Epcot and MK, can they run through barefoot or should we bring water shoes? I have never paid attention to these areas because we never had children before.

In all of our trips my kids never got wet at EPCOT the water shooting out of the cement just was never that inviting! I never worry about getting wet at EPCOT.

As far as the jammies , I could probably leave them at home but for the opposite reason. My kids are usually dead by the time we get back and tend to collapse in their shorts on the beds and I just pull of the shoes and socks and cover them up. Throwing shorts and a T on in the AM takes very little time. I just plop them on the bed next to them and while I'm getting ready they dress and we leave.

I just let my son go barefoot last time but this time I will be bringing flip-flops for both of my kids to play in the fountain with.

AKL only if they dont' go on Kali River rapids.....

Bring jammies--it's more hygienic. The time to change clothes is minimal.

IMO it is always wise to pack extra clothes for the kids, no matter what park you are visiting. I could go on and on about spilled drinks, ice cream, etc...What I do is just pack a complete set of clothes (all the way down to the undies and socks) in a backpack at the beginning of the week. I also put large Ziplock bags in there for the dirty clothes. That backpack goes w/ us to each park every day. Hopefully, it never gets used, but it's nice to have. Then if there is an accident I replenish that backpack w/ clean clothes when we get home that night.

not sure of your kids' ages, but yes, they can get wet Soaked even) even if they are too young for Kali RIver Rapids.

In Dino Land there is a great "RUn around until you get tired" area where there are all kinds of climbers and slides and...awaterfall to play in! My kids (5, 4 and 14 months at time of the trip) all got soaked! http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/laundry.gif

I agree with the zip lock bag method. VERY convienent, and form what I reemmber shoes are required, although I've seen kids go without them.

Oh, you're right. I forgot about The Boneyard. Lots of fun though -- especially in the summer.

Kali river rapids, there is one seat ( I had this seat) that you dont get 100% soaked from the large wall of water that goes over you. However Poncho's make it all better.
We are bringing DS to the airport when we fly out in his Pj's have to be at the airport at 5am, much easier, we are bringing clothes to change him later. But well I dont want to wake him up if I dont have to.

That is exactly what we do. In fact, depending on the shirts (rayon or polyester microfiber) you don't have to change them, either. Cotton will stay wet forever. My rule for Florida and Hawaii is no cotton. It's too humid and rains all the time in both places.

If they have comfortable swimshorts that don't chafe, they can just wear them all day. If not, just pack undies. Also, if they wear Tevas or the dreaded crocs;) their feet will dry quickly, too.

That's how my son dresses. Swim trunks, t-shirt and tevas. He gets wet at all the parks. Showers, sprinklers, and Dinoland at AK, the singing in the rain umbrella at MGM...he finds it all.

Loved the idea about no jammies, just roll them out of bed & on the bus!! Think I'll try that with my 14yo, we are from the west coast, so 3 hours behind. Getting up at 7am in Florida is like getting up at 4am for us!!

So if you see the family looking like they slept in their clothes and brushing their teeth in the Epcot fountains it's probably just us!:rotfl2:
