Dressing for Traditions

I'm heading out for my internship in a week and I am trying to prepare for my traditions ceremony. What exactly do they expect you to wear? I know they said appropriate attire so I was planning on wearing a dress with a blazer and heels. Is this appropriate or should I wear dress pants?

I would go with something business casual. A dress seems fine in my book, as long as it is near your knees. Disney has a dress guideline for traditions on its website.

I really don't suggest wearing heels. You do walk in traditions, and in my group, it was at a pretty fast pace. Everyone in heels was hurting by the end of it, and the one person who wasn't experiencing any pain slipped and fell. So I really suggest flats. They're also really weird on the rules. I had girls in my group that I thought looked like they belonged on a corner to be honest, in tiny skirts, sky high heels, and spaghetti straps, which were explicitly not allowed. But I saw another girl get turned away because the slit in her skirt was too high. Even though at it's highest point it was still at least two inches shorter than some of the other girls skirts all around.

I agree. Treat it as an interview. I had to take off a necklace cause I wore two, yet there were people in basically tshirts. I see Traditions groups all the time and think "how did she get through?"

When in doubt, think conservative. The Disney Look is conservative and you definitely don't want to err on the wrong side lest you get sent home. This applies to costuming up for work too.

My roommate is a Traditions Coordinator PI and he tells me it's different people that check for Disney Look everywhere, with varying standards (and, unfortunately, sometimes, attention spans). You know the CPs- some of them dress to impress, and it isn't Disney they're trying to impress.

Yeah, they can either be really strict or really lax. When I went for our "spot check" where they make sure you don't have any viable tattoos and such, they made me stand in natural light because they weren't sure my hair color was natural enough. But its my natural hair color! lol. Most of the time they will give you a warning on the first day or two if they feel you are not dressed right, and give you a chance to change.

What you plan to wear sounds good, the dress and a blazer. As long as the dress isn't too short/tight/etc. Really, just use common sense, read through the Disney look and be tasteful. I wore a knee length business casual black pencil skirt, a dressy sort of ruffle/ribbon tank blouse and a three quarter length sleeve blazer (if you wear a tank dress, don't take of the blazer) with neutral flats that matched. One watch and one necklace I believe? Look over the book they give you when you check in, it should outline what's acceptable if I remember correctly.

There's no need to wear heels unless you're super used to them because there will be walking as others mentioned. Like people were saying, some girls were getting away with things that were super inappropriate and not nearly professional enough, but honesty there's just no need because you never know who's going to be checking.
