I am ready to pack and it looks like it will be around 77 for the days and 55 for the nights when I am there next week. Is this daytime temp warm enough for t-shirts and shorts and then a light sweater at night with leggings or perhaps something warmer? Thanks so much!

77 is defo capris & T shirt weather for me, and I'm 'cold blooded'. The thing about October weather in So Cal is that when it's 77 it can be quite warm feeling in direct sunshine, but feel chilly if you're standing in the shade.

Dress in layers and get a locker. In weather like that I usually stow a hoody or jacket in a locker and start the day with a long sleeve T with a short sleeve T layered over & capris. You could also stow a pair of long pants. Shed the long sleeve T when it warms up then put it back on with a jacket in the evening when it cools down. Change into long pants if you feel like it. I wear capris and flip flops (hate shoes) in weather like this so if you see someone walking around in the cool/cold evening and night wearing capris, knee sox with toes, and flips, that's me! Function over form anyday!

It really depends on what you're acclimated too. I live in SoCal and at 77 it'll be long pants and long sleeve shirts for me while at night I'll be in my winter garb. It's best you dress in layers because it'll all depend on what you're used too. Have a blast!

I live here and I will be wearing shorts and a tank top or t-shirt for the daytime, might change into jeans and add a light sweater for nights.

I'm going in January, supposed to be highs of 60's. I love hearing that y'all wear long shirts and pants in 77 degree weather! Here in Colorado, 77 is bikini weather! :beach:

Another thing to remember about October weather in California is that the "highs" are short-lived. The mornings will be chilly, it will take several hours to climb to the high which may stick around for a few hours, then it will start cooling down in the early evening. In the summer it doesn't start getting dark until after 8:00 p.m. Last night I noticed it getting dark around 6:30 p.m. Also, the sun angles are lower so you don't tend to get that direct, overhead sunlight for very long. And, we have low humidity so the shade will feel cooler. I think layers are best at this time of year. Remember that the "low" is a 24-hour low which doesn't register until the middle of the night. It likely won't hit 55 until you're well out of the park.

I'd still be wearing shorts. But I'd bring a jacket for evening.

I pretty much wear jeans and tshirt most days. Then at night at 55 usually a flannel shirt or full zip lightweight sweatshirt, windbreaker if its windy.
