So, I wanted to have matching Disney shirts one day for our 5 day trip to DLR. And, we got them. They're the neon-Disney shirts - boys with Mickey and girls with Minnie.

Issue. My wife has taken this idea and is running with it. Now we not only have the matching shirts for one day - we have matching outfits for EVERY DAY! For example, we'll have our neon shirts one day and plaid shorts with white tops another day.

Well, the most recent addition is Pirate day. We were all pirates for Halloween last year and she wants us to get dressed up again. I'm not sure how I feel about this. What do you think? She thinks it'd be so much fun to be pirates as we ride POTC and tour Tom Sawyer's Island.

I need some DISBoard opinions.

Pirate outfits at DL: Good idea or bad idea?

well, I'm sure a t-shirt is ok but I think the policy is that adults aren't allowed to wear "costumes' other than during Mickey's Halloween Party

Yep, you'll see little girls running around in full Belle regalia or their Snow White dresses, but teens and adults are asked not to wear costumes in case they look like they're part of the Cast.

lol we will be dressing up as pirates and take off sertion parts when we go back to disney land. But heres the guied line im following
if they sell it in the park wear it lol I had my pirates hat on and were gona take it back there.

i have boots and pants ill wear for my out fit and ill wear those noramly diering the day ill have lots of pirate shirts (and tinks) and idont know how were all gona dress up for pirates at the halloween party but we are planing on buying some of the coustme things while there

Thanks for the advice. I didn't even think about a rule against adults wearning costumes, but it makes sense.

I believe the age limit for dressing up is 9. Too bad. I'd love to wear my pirate costume to the park too!

I have heard of cases where adults entering attempting to enter the parks not during a Halloween party were actually told they needed to change into normal clothes because Disney does not want confusion.

In short, children can wear costumes regardless of the time of year, but adults can only wear costumes during Halloween parties.

That is my understanding of the subject as well, being that adults can wear a costume, to the Mickey Halloween Party, for example, however for regular DL, DCA visiting, that it is not allowed. Which I say is too bad, but then I can see how some people, especially children, could be confused by this, and possibly taken advantage of as well, and that would just be horrible! let me tell you, if I was ever to catch a perv in the parks, I would be all over his sorry ***, before I could get security there, I hate those people, they are sick, disgusting, twisted people, that prey upon the innocent, and I would never, ever, let anything bad happen to anyone, if I can do a damn thing about it!
o.k. off soap box! I have a tendency to say what I think, even though, it may be, o.k. in this case it is, off topic.

As an adult, you are allowed to dress up for Mickey's Halloween Party in DCA. However, you can't roam the DL park in costume.

This happened to my officemate's daughter earlier this summer - she has, umm, let's just say her own sense of fashion - and for whatever reason she went dressed in a Victorian-type dress, complete with parasol and high heels, and the CM at the gate wouldn't let her in because they said she looked too much like Mary Poppins. They offered to let her in if she would put on a t-shirt over the dress, but she wouldn't do that. Disney ended up refunding the price of all of their admission tickets, though.

Right on my Mickey's Halloween Treat Tickets iit litst all this info about costume guidelines. The last guideline being: no one over 9 can wear a costume to the parks during regular times (which is all the time in DL and all the time but MHT at DCA).

You have the perfect out clause with your wife! Tee shirts are fine, costumes are not allowed!

Interesting . .. . I do know that last year on Bats Day (the day the Goths come out--I just happened to be there that day) there were several "outfits" that were quite Victorian--with parasols and guys dressed similarly to the Haunted Mansion CMs with long coats, etc. They must make somewhat of any exception for that too.
