Dress up nights on Fantasy

We have seen Tuxedos on men and boys, formal and cocktail dresses on girls/women, we have also seen business wear, and some people wear casual clothing on formal night as well

I would say most people are summer dresses, suit tie. I saw very few people with Tux's and formal dresses. You can see what we wore in the picture to the left.

Varies--we saw NO Tuxes at all this trip.

Some coats and ties and some dresses--many just wore slacks and a polo. A few even had on shorts!!

Wear what you feel comfortable with--no dress code is enforced.

It seems like you see less tuxedos and suits every year more people going to casual clothes on formal night

Agree--seems to be the way of things today--as witnessed by recent weddings and funerals we've attended.

I used to wear a long formal gown but felt out of place because most of the other women dressed more casually. DH usually wears slacks and a sports jacket and a Mickey Mouse necktie on formal night but has never bothered with a tux.

We used to take a leather garment bag along with a suitcase per person, but now the garment bag stays home, even on 15-day cruises.

People tend to dress more casually than 50 years ago. When I was a kid, girls were required to wear dresses to school, even when temps were below freezing. Most people dressed up for airline travel. Now it's not uncommon for teens to fly in their pajama pants.

That's not to say you CAN'T dress up if you want, especially if you're planning to have formal pictures taken before dinner (when your clothes are clean and fit better.) Just wear what works for you.

The requested theme of the evening is formal. The ship is elegant. Attire becomes a part of the scenery unless you live in your own private bubble. But people are always looking for others to tell them they can do whatever they like and wear whatever they choose. What DCL wants you to wear is obvious from the attire it shows people wearing in their promotional DVDs, commercials and brochures. What guests end up wearing is usually highly influenced by what they read on message boards instead. The question about formal night attire never goes away because people want reassurance from others that it's okay to do as they please instead of as requested. Unless DCL redesigns their dining rooms and atrium to resemble a fast food joint, my husband and I will continue to dress for and enjoy formal and semi-formal theme nights. But DCL will not force you to do the same.

I always dress up - but not prom dresses and tuxes lol. Who has space in their luggage for that?

We wear a suit and tie and dresses, etc. My boys will wear bowties. Mickey ones :)

I wore khakis (with belt), a dress shirt, a blue blazer, loafers (with socks), and a string of Christmas lights (not turned on) that I bought at the gift shop on board.

I was neither overdressed, nor underdressed. And, I didn't consult any discussion forum prior to determining what to wear.

I think it is often people who are very self-conscious who are the most concerned about what they and other people are wearing.
