Dress Steaming

Has anyone had their wedding dress steamed the day before the wedding?

We were going to do this but then noticed on Carolyn Allen order form it says it's best to get it done on the day.

Our ceremony is at 12pm, so realistically i could get mine and my bridesmaid dress steamed on the morning. However i am concerned about space in the hotel room, as there will be me, my mum, my bridesmaid and probably 2 make up artists. Would their be enough room for someone to steam 2 dresses as well?

My wedding was at 10 am, so Sue from Carolyn Allen's brought my dress and steamed it at noon the day prior.

The amount of room they need to steam depends on the size of your dress. Mine has a cathedral-length train (in other words, a big dress ). We were at the all-star and it was myself and my MOH staying in the room. Sue steamed it over one of the beds and we left it there until we went to bed that night, hung it over the door and used the little table to lay the train on. As soon as we got up the next morning, we moved the dress back overtop the bed and it worked out fine. I didn't have any issues with wrinkles or creases in my dress.

Would it be possible to have it steamed in the room of a nearby bridesmaid etc? It might help free up some space and whatnot

Has anybody had a Maggie Sottero dress made from 'soft shimmer satin' steamed by CA or does this fabric need to be pressed with an iron?

Bridesmaid is staying in a different hotel to us so wouldn't be able to do this x

I had a 10am ceremony and had my dressed steamed by Carloyn Allens the day before the wedding at 1:30 in the afternoon. I left it as is after they finished and it had no wrinkles in it the morning of!

I would call Carolyn Allen's and ask Sue. She can tell you specifically what she's comfortable steaming. She's very nice and will help you out in any way she can.

Thank you so much. I will call nearer the time (my VR is not until May). I am hoping to hire tuxes from her too. I need to send measurements for the tuxes to her nearer the time (we need a tux for a 10 year old and I know he will grow if I do it earlier!!). I will ask her then. I am trying to avoid too many calls to the US as we're in the UK!!! I was just curious to know if anyone had the answer.

Oh that's true - I didn't think about the time difference. Email them and direct the email to Sue and send her the link for the dress. It'll save you the cost of the phone call.
