Okay I'm sure this has been beat to death, but I'm not finding anything that quite gives me the answer by googling.

First night at Disney we have ADRs for 8 pm; I figure that by the time we're done with supper it'll be late then we plan on going to the EMH at MK.

Do you think that it would be okay for my husband to wear dress shorts with a polo for dinner. Would dress sandals be okay--not flip flops?

Or should he just suck it up and wear khakis and dress shoes and then complain the rest of the week about his sore feet.

Or is there some place that he could change and leave the clothes and we'd pick up at the end of the evening:confused3:confused3:confused3

Dress shorts, a polo and sandals will be fine. The official dress code from the WDW website is

Men: Khakis, slacks, jeans, dress shorts, collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.
Ladies: Capris, skirts, dresses, jeans, dress shorts.

Not permitted in dining room: Tank tops, swimwear, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing. While T-shirts are now allowed, the policy remains that T-shirts with offensive language or graphics are not acceptable.

Dress sandals, dress shorts and a polo are perfect. My friend wore just that during his visit last January.

That's what the official line says, I just didn't know if you truly saw men there with dress shorts--how many looks would he get ;)

Good to know

I wore long dressy shorts, a nice top, and my sandals for my dinner at the California Grill. And I didn't feel out of place, or under-dressed. I am female, but I don't see why nice shorts on a guy would be out of place either.

We will be doing the same thing CG then emh in sept. I will be wearing a sundress, dd capris, cute t, 2 ds,dh kaki shorts, polos and nice sandals. No one will be wearing sneakers or flip flops, so I'm sure we'll be all good.

I wear dress shorts, a polo and nice sneakers every time we go. No one has ever looked at me funny or said a word.

Just dress tastefully. They say "business casual" but it's more like "vacation dressy". :goodvibes

Wear the dress shorts and a polo shirt. While it is a signature restaurant remember that it is still at a theme park resort. Some people will be dressed up and others will be there in their park wear. He should be comfortable in the shorts.

We saw plenty of men in nice shorts and polos. If you are going in the summer it is hotter than hades. As long as he isn't wearing a ratty tshirt with gym shorts he will be perfectly dressed.

Also I wouldn't worry about what other people think of the way he is dressed. As long as you think he is acceptably dressed and he is happy then quit worrying about what other people think. To some, CG is a once in a lifetime experience and the pull out the high heels and their Sunday dress. I personally think those people look ridiculous at CG.:lmao:

As others have said, that is fine. I forced my DS, 13 to wear boat shoes with his dressy shorts when we went last month and he made a point to show me ALL the people wearing sneakers. Next time I'd let him go with sneakers, there were that many. ;) And of course when he noticed the baby(maybe 1 year old) at the table next to us with no shoes on at all he almost had a heart attack. :rotfl:

Any time we've been there, the majority of the men have on shorts & polos (some even more casual). Those that dress up are by far in the minority.

my DH wore jeans, a polo and sneakers to all signatures, never felt out of place. saw lots of me in dress/khaki type shorts.

We were there last month, and my husband and our three boys wore khaki shorts and polos. My husband wore sandals our boys wore crocs. Everyone was entirely comfortable and most others were similarly dressed.

Dress shorts and a Polo are a breath of fresh air compared to how some of the guests show up. Signature Dining places have eased up alot since the DDP and free dining.

The term "dress shorts" at WDW signature restaurants is a pretty wide concept in actuality.
You'll see just as many cargo shorts as you will dress shorts.

Dh forgot to pack his dockers khaki pants and DD and I did pack our dresses. We ended up wearing capris and DH wore dockers khaki shorts and a polo shirt. We were still overdressed compared to many!

Definitely!! DH wore dress shorts and a glof shirt (polo shirt) last year with dock shoes/boat shoes. This year, he'll be in sandals.
