Dress ordering

I am getting married April 16, 2011 and I have no idea when I should order my dress. Help Please

I was told it could take 6 months for my dress to arrive. I ordered it 8 months before the wedding. The bridal shop stores it there until all the alterations have been done so really I could have ordered it sooner if I wanted.

I ordered mine in September for my Aug 2010 wedding it came in before Chrsitmas but I was told it could take up to 6 months. The shop will hold it until alterations are done and I'm happy I don't have to stress about a delayed dress.

Honestly I ordered mine when I found the dress. I knew it was the one and I didn't want to procrastinate and end up losing the dress like I did with my shoes. It was a full 18 months before my wedding and I don't regret it.

I ordered my dress in October and it wont arrive until June - so thats like 8months to make!

I wanted to order it as soon as I could because I just had a fear that my line of dress would be discontinued.

I knew it was the dress as I had tried many many on. I found the dress when I was 17 months out, and I ordered the dress 13 months out, like Pirates Princess- I have no regrets and Im very happy that I have my dress in plenty of time.

The shop said it was very common that brides order so early out, and my shop held dresses for however long needed until the wedding for no charge.

I ordered mine in the January for our December wedding and it took around 6 months to arrive.

I ordered mine in Dec for my June wedding from Davids Bridal, it took less than 3 weeks for it to arrive...

I lucked out and purchased mine off the rack - it was brand new to the store but I still got it for 35% less
However, it took my friend who had a year before her wedding nearly 3 months to find her dress, and then about 7 months to get it in - she was cutting it close.
Most bridal shops will hold onto your dress until you need it, so I say start looking anytime. The last thing you want is to be down to the wire wondering if your dress will come in on time to be altered!

mine took about 2 weeks from David's. they told me almost 4 months so I was super happy to have it so quickly!

Wow I better start looking...my wedding is in 3.5 months and I have no clue what I'm going to wear! I want just a simple white dress, it doesn't even have to be a wedding dress, but I should probably go check out David's Bridal at least, in case I see something I have to have...I'm dreading dress shopping, actually, because my weight is SO not where I want it to be...oh well!

If you do end up choosing a dress that needs to be ordered, it's a good idea to pad the date by about a month when they ask when you need it. So if you need it in June, say May. Sometimes they tell you it takes 6 months to receive when it really doesn't - they just take your money right then and wait to order the dress for a few months.

Also, if it comes in early, you might want to consider storing it yourself - I've heard horror stories where the bridal shop goes out of business and brides can't get their dresses out.

I was at a used dresses place today and found 2 dresses I like under 400.00 canadian each. One is not white it's a little off but thats the dress everyone loves on me. the other one is white and they both look great on me. And than a friend just e-mailed me and said she would sell me her dress and her dress is the one i really want. Wow I can't lose anymore sleep over this and I am not getting married until April 16, 2011
