Hi everyone

I recently submitted my request w dvc rental store and they got back quickly saying they had availability. They said the deposit would be $380 and 75 days out the remainder is due

I was so excited and paid the $380 immediately. Then they emailed saying thank you for your deposit, we are working on finding you a match? I’m very confused. I thought it was set in stone. It’s been days and they haven’t responded and now I have no idea what’s going on

I will be trying again for a separate trip in about a month but it’s for a hard to get room, is David’s a quicker option? Since dvc rental store seems very slow and not great with responding?

The next one I’m trying to get is harder so I want the best shot!

Thank you!

I would call them asap. If they didn’t already have an owner matched with your reservation then the deposit should’ve only been $100. It could be they are waiting for the confirmation number and all is well, but I’d call to make sure something is actually booked for your intended reservation.

Ok I will call them! I wasn’t sure if this is just how it goes

Does anyone happen to know if David’s is maybe quicker for the hard to get reservation I’ll be trying for?

Ok update from dvc rental store so hopefully this can help someone else

They cannot actually try to get you a reservation/match until you pay a deposit. They are waiting for someone to “claim the reservation” it’s been 7 days…..she said a few resale dvc contract ppl tried but it has to be direct dvc so they weren’t able to. We could lose availability in the process

David’s is closed but I am going to call them tomorrow to see if their process works the same.

I feel like I should’ve submitted on both sites and went with whoever had the match first. I’m so worried I’m going to lose it completely

Choosing the resort and dates you want is generally something done around 11 months in advance. 1 month out at a restricted resort (requires direct points) is going to be VERY hard to get, this is likely why they have not found anything in 7 days. When you want to rent points for stay on short notice typically you look at the confirmed reservations section of the site and book what they have available there.

This is for march, I’ve been waiting 7 days for an answer. Made the deposit 7 days ago and they have availability but no one is claiming the reservation

She said she cannot give a timeline, it’s just a matter of someone claiming it or not. I just didn’t realize it was a long process

Oh i misunderstood I thought it was for a reservation in a month.

Hopefully someone can claim it. I will say they send emails often to members reminding them they have reservations they need to fill.

The only difference with the other broker is if they have someone offering points that can be booked everywhere.

Availability does change regularly so be aware that was available last week may be gone by the time either place finds an owner to book for you.

The room doesn’t get put on hold. On a side note, thank you for not sharing specifics as that is not allowed.

Thank you for the info! I at least understand the process better now!

As a requester, do you submit the price you want to pay? Because as an owner I go in there and see a ton of low price per point requests and wonder if they are actually getting people to book for those low costs, and if the costs are based on renter request or set by the company.

No I have no say in the price, it only shows one price on my end for the dates I’m requesting

Pretty sure it’s set by DVCRS. Different resorts pay different amounts. Also 11 month pays more than 7.

When I looked it was sometimes better at one vs the other. I went with DVCRS because in my circumstance it paid $4 pp more
The highest I see now is $19, for BCV. And frankly there’s no way I want to rent my BCV points out at any price, so $19 seems too low!🤣
The other higher cost ones are BW, VGC, and VDH and maybe a few others. But a lot of these feel like places I’d probably personally not want to rent out because they are “special points for special places.”

It seems that for most owners, renting through dvcrequest.com is a better deal for the owner. There are a few that pay slightly better at dvcrentalstore.com but it isn’t by a lot.
That’s who I went through as the board sponsor was low even vGC points were only $16. I wanted to use rental store but not with the prices they were paying out.

I actually just created an owner account on dvcrentalstore.com. I don't have any plans to rent out my points - have been thinking about a point swap with them in 2027 for a Disney Cruise. For non-confirmed reservations where a renter submits a request and then a DVC owner claims it, if it is for something 7 months out or less, they are only paying $13/point to owners, regardless of resort. Their payouts for requested rentals more than 7 months out range from $14-$19, depending on resort. Of course, if you decided to rent out a confirmed reservation, you can request up to $20/point. If they're only going to pay out $13/point, as an owner, I'd be looking to rent out my points myself or go for a different broker. I understand dvcrequest.com will pay $16/point to owners, even for bookings less than 7 months.

So, OP, I'm not surprised your reservation request is just hanging out there. Until they find a DVC owner desperate to rent their points, I think they're going to have a hard time getting anyone to fill it. I'd probably call and cancel and try a different broker. Of course, you may end up paying more. Another option might be renting direct from someone on the rental board - not as much protection, but you might be able to save some money too. Just some thoughts.

I can see all of the March reservation requests. I see several RIV and VDH requests. I'm guessing one of those is yours since those are both restricted resorts. I can't believe they're only willing to pay DVC owners $13/point for those reservations. I think you'll be hard pressed to get any DVC owner to fill those anytime soon. I'd go elsewhere.
