Dress for school dance? Theme : Hollywood Club.....

My son's 8th grade dance theme is "Hollywood Club Gala".

What should he wear? I am totally stumped.

Is this the "dance that ends 8th grade"?

At my DD's middle school - regardless of what the theme was - the girls dressed in nice dresses, and most of the boys had on a shirt and tie. Black was probably the most popular shirt color, and the ties were on the brighter side. This was 3 years ago for us.

My youngest son has his 8th grade dinner/dance next month but it isn't a particular theme or anything. So no help there.

But he's wearing his black dress pants and I just bought him a new black long sleeved dress shirt with a striped tie that has different shades of purple on it. Looks very sharp.

"Hollywood Club Gala" makes me think of a top hat, tails and a walking stick.

I'm thinking 1940's Hollywood though.

We went shopping today and bought a pair of black dress pants, and a black long sleeve shirt. He found a bright red tie (think Billie Jo Armstrong of Green Day in the American Idiot tour) and is thrilled. He loves Green Day and will look amazing in his outfit! So glad we shopped early as he needed to try on stuff to get sizes, and I had to order online as the color black is not readily available for pants and shirts in his size (tall and thin).

I told him that maybe we could find him a Fedora to go with it! LOL. GMTA!

I need to get shopping for my dd. She is also having a dance. No "theme" though thank goodness.

Your son's outfit looks cool. Of course I would not know things. My dd won't let me pick anything.
