Hi everyone. My fiance and I are getting married in Disneyworld in October, and my little sister (age 13) will be my maid of honour. She's a little thing, kind of a twig, around 5'1, and I was hoping somebody here might have some links to some good dresses for her -- her height is an issue, since most dresses we've seen have been for little kids. We've been looking all morning without much success. Here's some basics.

Neither of us cares much for ruffles, bows, or gauze. We're also both Canadians, and she's never been to Florida before, so a lighter material for the heat would be good. (Everyone told me it would be cooler in October when I first came down last year -- they lied, they lied!)

She's kind of a punk little kid -- if I really really really wanted her to wear something incredibly girly, she would, but I'd never hear the end of it.

She really doesn't like low necklines.

And perhaps the biggest stipulation; cost and re-use. I'd like it to be a nice dress she could get use of again, if she needed something to wear for a dance or what have you, so nothing that's too formal. $150 would probably be the max it would be sensible to spend.

If anybody has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. :goodvibes

I was my sister's MOH at age 13 and a junior bridesmaid for my cousin at 12. What we did both times is found a bridesmaids dress. For my cousin we found a dress maker that could closely copy the dress but keep it age appropriate. It was a simple black dress that i rewore to a dance.

For my sister's wedding. were able to get the exact dress in a "junior bridemaids" version. Check online with David's Bridal they have tons of options and you can order and have them shipped and then get them tailored locally.

I think we were under $100.00 both times. Find a nice pattern and see about getting a dress made, it is cheaper than you would think!

My MOH is 13 and we went ahead and got her a regular bridesmaids dress to match the other girls. We got it from bill levkoff! She didn't want a junior bridesmaids dress, eventhough it probably would have been fine! Good Luck! :)

We are using a Bill Levkoff dress for our jr. bridesmaid- opposite color scheme of the actual bridesmaid dressses. The nice thing about the dress is that her Mom is planning on using it again for another event by having the length altered from long to short. There dresses are nice because our girl is a tomboy and these dresses have no bows, lace, etc. I have seen really good deals on them on ebay from people who aren't using them/reselling!

I am looking for a young bridesmaid dress and I found them on Lazaro Bridesmaid website.. They have beautiful ones...

we had a jr. bridesmaid, and chose dresses from Alfred Angelo. They have several styles that come in all sizes from jr. bridesmaid to plus size. This way, all of my girls wore the same dress (what I wanted). You can check out some of their styles, maybe you can find something that is re-wearable... :)

good luck!

my sister was a junior bridesmaid, and I loved her dress. She's a bit of a tomboy, but loved it still the save. She is 10. The dress was a light satin with organza over it, and it came with a little organza jacket. I believe it was from Mori Lee. You can go to that website and look at all the options under "bridesmaid" and there are younger girls in there with some of the dresses on. The dress fit her perfectly too:

Plus there are mori lee bridesmaids dresses that match too :) Oh and I forgot, it was approximately $100

My niece was my MOH (our only attendant actually) and she was 17 at the time, so a little older than you're MOH, but I didn't want her in a traditional dress either and I wanted her to be able to wear the dress again. I got her a Levkoff from the bridal boutique where I got my gown. It was less than $150 and definitely re-usable! It was the perfect dress - she's 5'3" and skinny and pretty "non-traditional" in her regular dress so putting her in something frilly or long or with dyed-to-match shoes was out of the question.
The dress and shoes were perfect and a good option to the traditional bridesmaid/MOH dress. We were married in October too, at 3:00 pm and it was warm with a slight breeze. I'm usually always freezing (bring a sweater everywhere even though we live in Florida) and it was perfect - not too warm and not too cool. It's a great month down here! Best Wishes :goodvibes

Thanks guys. You've given me some options to look into. :) I would have replied sooner, but I only have access to a computer sporadically. I really appreciate the help. Hopefully my sister will find something she likes here!
