The OP only made a comment that OP is not a fan of the relaxed dress code. I think that what is really missing in this thread is that the dress code is what it is and you can abide by it or skip the specialty restaurant. The only thing that is important is that DCL has determined that the dress code should be different than the dress code in the MDR. Guests may like or not like the changes the dress code and that is what the thread should be about, not whether or not a guests feels a dress code is appropriate and they should be allowed to wear what ever they want.
If a guest wants to experience the specialty restaurants when making their cruise plans than guests have a choice to abide by the dress codes of the specialty restaurants or skip them, but they should be prepared to follow the dress code and pack accordingly. I think what causes issues is not the dress code but the way the specialty restaurants don't consistently enforce their own rules which in turn causes confusion among the guests attending the specialty restaurants.
Regardless of dress code for the specialty restaurants, everyone should plan their cruise in a way that would allow them to have a good time and enjoy themselves. That is what is most important.
