Dress code for Signature Restaurants

We just upgraded to the DxDP for June & have seen a couple of different things about dress codes. My TA read something to me about: no bathing suits (duh), tank tops, cut offs, and flip flops.

Nothing else I've seen, including the official DDP info says anything about flip flops. In regards to this, does it really mean flip flops? and do they consider just the thong-type shoe that goes between your toes as flip flops? Would I be able to wear my crocs Cleo sandals? That's all I was planning on bringing?

Also, DH has the cargo-type shorts in khaki, tan, navy, etc. Would these be okay?

Back to the shoes, tennis shoes are okay, but not flip flops? I don't want to be refused service anywhere.

I'm not sure about Disney's dress code, but I can tell you that "flip-flops" and "thongs" are synonymous terms for the same thing. It's like the difference between Pop vs Soda; that is, there is no difference other than the part of the country you're from. A flip-flop IS a thong. The main reason Disney refers to them as flip-flops is because to a lot of people, "thong" refers to a garment that's, um, worn on your posterior and definitely not meant to be seen!

The Disney business casual dress code is for signature restuarants only. I have nice suede dressy flip flops that I've worn with skirts and dressy capris to the signatures before. I've seen people in tennis shoes. I've seen men in nice shorts with polo shirts. I've seen people in crocs.

About half of the diners will be dressed nicely and half will look like they just came from the parks. And you'll get many opinions out here on what people consider appropriate attire for the signatures.

The only thing that will get someone turned away is hats (on men), bathing suits, torn/ragged/unhemmed clothing. Other than these items, you are free to wear whatever you are comfortable wearing in a fine dining environment.

I think the flip-flop prohibition business comes from those pool-style rubber flip flops that "thwack" as you walk back and forth at the pool. THose are usually equated with swimwear, which is prohibited by the dress code. So folks assume flip-flops are prohibited as well---.
