Dress code for parks

Not for those of us who like voluptuous women....

Sorry, folks, but I happen to think most models need to eat a sammich.

In the words of Edna Mode: "'Supermodels'. Heh! Nothing super about them... spoiled, stupid little stick figures with poofy lips who think only about themselves. Feh!"

I save my voluptuosness for my husband! Occasionally I will wear a lower cut shirt to the grocery store with a good push up bra (gotta have that gravity defying push up), it is amazing the bag boy service I get! :rotfl:

I do wear my 42 DD's with pride folks, I just don't feel the need to show them in the park!

>>> I have seen so many women of all shapes and sizes walking around all the parks with tube tops on. Some revealing lots and others not.

Perhaps it has something to do with the percentage of skin area exposed, i.e. if you are large, then the top has to have more square inches of area. Since they don't have checkpoint arches with cameras and computers to determine the percentage, the CM's have to eyeball it and make a snap judgment

>>> for comparisons sake, I wore this shirt at AK and had no problems.

The red is definitely legal. The orange IMHO does not fit the definition of "shirt".

(copied from another post)
I got away with wearing one weightlifter's tank top with just one thin strap in back and arm holes almost to the waist. Perhaps the vivid color was an optical illusion to draw attention away from skin. Second day memory of just about every Disney trip, seeing the outline of a tank top burned into my shoulders. On most days now I wear something that at least covers the shoulder tops. It's no fun having to zigzag across walkways to stay in shaded areas.

The last time I looked, WDW was located in America. I find that inexcusable that WDW told the lady to change her top and put more clothes on.

For shame...

Wow - and I was looking at the orange top and thinking how flattering and pretty it was - and not at ALL inappropriate. I don't own any strapless tops, but if I did it would be something like that. I can't imagine any theme park considering that top inappropriate.

I think the orange shirt was appropriate and very pretty.

What the CM said the the original OP was inappropriate but I also am curious why they went back to Epcot and didn't talk to Guest Relations in MGM right away.

I wish Disney WOULD enforce a dress code. Honestly, it's really disturbing to see the butt cheeks of teenagers (and adults) hanging out all of the time. I'm sure in a perfect world you could count on people using their common sense as far as what is "decent" when they get dressed for the day, but I learned 'common sense' went out the door along time ago for our society. :confused3 I've just always lived by the rule that if I put it on and have to question if it will be acceptable attire for where I am going, then it's probably a wise decision to put something else on and not chance it.:rolleyes1

Why are you looking at their butts? ;)

I had an experience like that with my daughter who was six months old at the time. It was 98 degrees and we were riding the Animal Kingdom tour (yes, fully shaded) and she was only wearing a diaper and a bib and I was told to put shirt on her and given no explanation.

Sharing my secrets on another thread, aye!?!? :lmao:

I know... if I wear think clothing, I must wear full coverage panties and a 6 hooked cross my heart bra. ;)

Hey lady you gave yourself away. I just said beware! :rotfl2:
Anyway, you are the one who wants to flaunt her pasties! ;)

First of all, I get his reference to locals. Us locals (I lived in Florida since I was in high school) seem to wear less clothing in general, than most of the country... Now I live in S. FL where LESS clothing is the very norm.

I understand the point you are trying to make, but just wanted to throw out the other side of the "Local" coin. I have lived in Florida (Clearwater and Orlando) since 1982 and Hubby has been here in Orlando since 1999. I don't even think either of us owns a pair of shorts. We always joke about how you can spot the locals because they are the ones wearing jeans in the middle of August because locals are use to the heat. I am fairly average height and weight, so it is not like I wear pants to be conservative, I am just more comfortable in jeans and a nice top. I just think it is funny as I would look at someone that was in shorts and a tank top as a tourist and those in jeans and a tee shirt when it is 98 degrees out as the locals...

It is.

I find that inexcusable that WDW told the lady to change her top and put more clothes on.

Ah, once again someone fell asleep in Civics class, I see.

Because it is America, and because WDW is Private Property, we can pretty much enforce any dress code we like, as long as it's not discriminatory. Your rights end where our rights begin and we have the right to limit what we will allow people to wear -- or not wear -- at our business, conducted on our property.

I will also remind you that neither you nor I know how exactly the guest was dressed, as the OP has neglected to post a photograph of his wife -- and judging from the range of responses and villification here, I can't say I blame him.

Ok, my profile picture is the one below:

This was taken at Epcot in one of the kiosks where you can take a picture and email it to friends/family.

To be honest, that shirt actually looks a little "lower" than it actually was, just because of the angle of the camera how we were trying to lean over to get into the picture. We never had a single person say anything to us, nor do I find that shirt inappropriate. So, you can see her shoulders and the top of her chest? So what? According to some of the responses, this shirt shouldn't be allowed. I say why not? It's not like anything is hanging out all over the place, and the fact was it was about 98 degrees that day!

I can understand not allowing shirts that show a large percentage of a woman's chest, but just your basic tube top? (My wife's even had a string that went around her neck, just so she wouldn't have to worry about it falling down). She's "gifted" in that area (actually, that really is a bad picture, you can't even tell...lol), but she's not showing anything that is even remotely "sexual" in nature. Last I checked, I haven't found the collarbone and upper pectorals very sexy on anything...lol

P.S. Oh yea, and we're locals, and that has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

First of all, you guys are too funny! I have to admit I do unfortunatly weigh exactly 300 lbs. Do any of you really know what that looks like. Unless you are a health care provider taht takes weights for patients then I bet that you don't. I could be wrong. Now 300 lbs looks different on some people then it does on others. Let me say I am very active, I have been overweight my whole life and now I just focus on trying to be healthy. Maybe I will lose some weight in the process. If I do lose weight it will be for health reasons, it will not be to please the guests that are forced to look at me when I go to Disney. I do dress modestly, but even if I weighed 120 lbs I would still dress in good taste. I saw a very small women dressed half naked last week at a parade and that was just as disgusting as a fat person dressed half naked. Anyway , I will try not to scare any small children while I am at Typhoon Lagoon in May. I will have on short sleeves so you may want to watch out. Now I have never scared my own children with my size. But then again I have raised them to know that people all have the same feelings regardless of our size, age, income, race, etc.

Oh my gosh.. so well said. THANK YOU!

To be honest, I have absolutely no issues with that outfit whatsoever... I've seen a lot worse, like the 350 lb guest on an ECV who decided to wear a miniskirt -- and no underwear. :scared1: I still have nightmares...

A bit of Googling did come up with this gem about Tube Tops -- this time from Wikipedia about the TV show "The Price is right":

The most frequently mentioned blooper happened in 1977 when at the beginning of the show, a woman named Yolanda Bowsley was called to come on down. Bowsley ran so hard to Contestants' Row and failed to notice her tube top slipped off, exposing her breasts. Bob Barker has called this incident "the most talked about incident in the history of the show" and has often introduced the clip of the incident with the phrase, "she came on down, and they came on out!" TV Guide ranked it as the 19th most unexpected moment in television history.

So: there is apparently some risk associated in wearing tube tops, but I've certainly never heard of them being banned or proscribed at Disney in any way.

Its pretty obvious that something is not right with the OP post.
Unless I missed it not only has he not posted a picture, which is fine, but he hasn't even responded once.:confused3

Just to add
Why not take the free Tshirt Disney was offereing and put in on
problem solved, no ?
:thumbsup2
