We have a ADR for Narcoosies to celebrate my 40th. Its a early dinner reservation so the kids can handle it. (5:30 or so).

I went out and bought myself a little black cocktail dress..My DH will be wearing dress slacks, shirt and tie and the girls will be in dresses.

Now I'm wondering whether we will be overdressed?

A cocktail dress and a tie might be, but if it's your celebration, and you all want to dress up, go and enjoy it.

We've been to Narcossee's twice and both times we saw people in all forms of dress. You will see some in shorts dressed very casually and there will be others "dressed up". Wear what you feel good in and have a wonderful time!

I agree w/ TDC Nala--it's your birthday and dress up if you want to!!

But do remember there will be folks at Narcoossee's in shorts and t-shirts. And not many ladies in a dress, or men with a tie.

Narcoossee's is our absolute favorite meal at WDW. You will absolutely not be overdressed. We always "dress" when we go there, and it is our experience that most other diners do as well. So dress up....enjoy...make sure you ask for a window seat and that they know your celebrating. We just celebrated our 10th anniversary and Debbie (our server) and staff made it a VERY magical experience for my husband and I.

We like to dress up for special occasions regardless of the restaurant. Happy Birthday!

We were there in early October and DH wore khaki pants and a collared shirt, DD wore a dress, and I wore a capri pant outfit. We felt appropriate. Some people were dressed up a bit more and a very few were dressed down. I think you'll be just fine.

We always dress up for dinner and it is nice to do it. It annoys me that people do turn up in shorts and t shirts as it is suppose to be smart dress.

Do make sure they know you are celebrating so they might give you a bit of disney magic while you are dining. Have a lovely time:thumbsup2

you won't be be over dressed I allway's dress up when eating their enjoy a wondefull dinner .

Keeping in mind we are amusement parking all day, many show up in that attire.

I believe more locals who come just for dining dress up more there.

You won't be overdressed, but you may be in the minority based on our last trip there last year in December.

DH and I dressed in similar clothes for Cali Grill. We were definetly more dressed up than 90% of the patrons, but we never felt out of place. If anything we were somewhat embarrassed for the stretch cotton shorts and mickey tee people at the next table.

We know it is a theme park resort restaurant, but it is a signature meal, we felt like dressing up should be the norm, not the exception.

You should never feel overdressed for dressing appropriately. As long as you don't make fun of the people in theme park attire.:rotfl2:

You will not be overdressed. The last time my DW and I dined there at about the time you are planning there was a wedding party from the UK celebrating and they were very well dressed including the bride in her wedding gown. There were folks in theme park attire as well. As far as I could tell, no one was uncomfortable. Narcoossees is a great place to celebrate. Have a Happy Birthday! :bday:

Thank you everyone for the responses. I'm going to go with it. U only turn 40 once right ;) (thank goodness for that).

I for one, and I am sure I speak for others, love seeing people get dressed up to celebrate. Dress for the occasion, have fun, and know that everyone that is looking your way is thinking, 'Wow, don't they look nice!'

Oh and one more thing......

Don't burn the place down with all the candles on the cake. :rotfl2: We are going there in the spring, thank you very much.

I kind of live my life like "who cares what someone else thinks". I bet you will all look fabulous and it will be an enjoyable memory for you. I think you should wear what you feel comfortable in and not worry about the "masses" :)

"You wouldn't care what other people thought of you so much if you realized how little they did it"

;) :) ;)

Have a wonderful birthday and enjoy this moment in your life ;)

You know, I think most people are under dressed. this is a special occasion for you and you should dress the way you want to.
You will never get nasty looks for looking elegant and understated, but I can assure you that people in shorts will feel uncomfortable seeing how great you look ;)

I say wear whatever you want but I dont see anyone dressed up for dinner at Cali Grill, Jiko, BlueZoo, Il Mulino or Flying Fish..they are all in park attire and not one person has been turned away
