Dress code for dining

Most, if not all, dining lists "resort casual" as their dress code. I'm presuming this means you can wear shorts. I'm eating at many table service restaurants this trip and I don't want to feel out of place.

Thanks for any and all input.

You'll be fine. Signatures are a tad more upscale.

My fiancé and I always wear shorts. We go in August so I would never consider wearing pants ;) we've never had a problem :)

For "Resort Casual " restaurants DH & DS wear dress shorts and a collard shirt. For theme park restaurants regular shorts & jersies are good.

Ok, last time when I ate at Teppan Edo I had a pair of khakis on and was going to bring a pair this trip. Just one less thing to pack.

This is a frequently asked question with a simple answer. With the exception of V&A, no matter how you dress you will not feel out of place because there will always be someone dressed more casually than you are.

Unless you are eating at Victoria and Albert's, the dress codes are more suggestions than anything else. As others have said, at casual restaurants, shorts and t-shirts are fine (you will find people wearing this attire at signatures as well sometimes). For signatures, I typically wear a sundress and sandals and DS and DH wear dress shorts and polo shirts. It's very casual at WDW.

Great. I''m looking forward to all the TS rezzies I have.

Shorts should be okay as long as you don't wear a t-shirt in the signature restaurants. Depending on when you go, FL is so darn hot and humid they can't possibly expect people to wear pants to table service restaurants. Shorts and a t-shirt should be okay for non-signatures.

What about at The Yachstman Steakhouse? I wear khaki cargo shorts and untucked t-shirts year around. I think I own maybe 2 collared shirts. Would I have to wear a collared shirt that is tucked in?

The way I've always heard it, is that t-shirts are fine at the signatures inside the parks...but not for the sigs at the resorts.

I'd go collared shirt, but you might be able to get away with not tucking it in.

At Yachtsman's DH & DS wear dress shorts - not cargo shorts - and untucked polo shirts. But as others have said you would be allowed in with cargo shorts on.

I generally go in with cargo shorts and an untucked polo shirt and no one has said a thing to me about it. You will be fine like that.

The dress code--and that term I use loosely--allows for T-shirts in EVERY Signature restaurant save V&A. The Only stipulation is that they do not have an offensive image or logo.

While dress shorts are "suggested", cargo shorts abound at all the Signature restaurants..as many or more than wear dress shorts.

So the short answer to the OP's question is that shorts and t-shirts are perfectly acceptable.

Just look neat. Unfortunately Disney has gotten less and less strict with the dress code. Most table services are fine with park attire. Don't go in a bathing suit to a restaurant, but just look neat. If you're wearing shorts and a nice tee, you'll be fine.

As for Signatures, I normally wear jeans or chinos and a button-down shirt. It doesn't have to be tucked in. You can get away with a button down and shorts, maybe roll up the sleeves - or a nice polo and pants. I personally enjoy dressing up. But I dressed up for our first Christmas trip and ADR at a signature and felt way out of place.

In a place where there are shops that sell $35 t-shirts every 67 feet, they'd be kind of foolish to ban folks from their restaurants where a sandwich is $15. :rolleyes1
