Dress Code at Jikos?

I called and randomly made ADR's for our upcoming June trip and decided that since we have never been to Jiko's before that it would be nice to try something new. When I made the reservation the woman said that the dress code was business casual. I was under the impression that V&A was really the only place that had a dress code. I like fine dining but, when I'm in Disney World, it's usually shorts and T-shirts for us.

For those that have been to Jiko's, how did everyone dress and should I just call now and cancel due to my inability to dress up while on vacation?

Thanks!

Most of the "Signature" restuarants at WDW are now "business casual. This doesn't mean a suit and tie. The WDW version of business casual is slacks, chino's, or dressy jeans with a polo for men, and casual dress, skirt/slacks/dressy jeans and blouse/sweater, or casual pant suit for women.

We ate at Jiko for our sons birthday a few weeks ago, and most patrons were abiding by the dress code.

We have seen people turned away from the California Grill and Citrico's for not being properly dressed, and a former coworker was refsed seating at Bistro for the same reason.

They are enforcing the no hats on men at these restaurants.

If you are adament about not changing into business casual attire before dinner, you might want to think about the Kona Cafe which has great food and no dress code.

While I agree with Anne, its also the case that there is a little more leeway in Business Casual at Disney than there may be in showing up on work on Friday. They are trying to keep "sloppy, sweaty, park attire" out of the signature establishments. And that any enforcement is haphazzard, it isn't unusual to see shorts and tshirts in these places - in fact, the majority of patrons will probably be in tidy shorts and t-shirts.

Totally disregard the dress code as an actual code...It's more like guidelines. Disney does not enforce the so called 'business casual' AT ALL (aside from V&A's and maybe CG). Just be neat and clean and you can dine at Jiko and you will dine amongst some folks who are dressed up, some in regular Park attire, some more than casual, some less casual. If you want to be extra safe, avoid regular t-shirts, cut off shorts and tank tops (although I've seen all of them recently at Jiko).

Don't worry. Go, enjoy. Eat well!

DH typically wears a nice pair of khaki shorts and a polo to these "signature" restaurants. I wear khaki capris and a nice top with sandals. Nothing too fancy, but nothing that looks like I've been wrestling pigs in it.

Don't change your reservation! Jiko is my favorite restaurant on Disney property, and I've eaten at most of them.

As others have said, the dress code is a guideline. If you wear a nice pair of longer shorts and a tucked in shirt you will be fine. DH and I get dressed up for dinner, but we do it because we want to, we think it is fun, and we build the time to do so into our day.

At every restaurant I have been to (except V+A's) I have seen a range of outfits. For example, the last time we ate at CG (December), there were people in all states of dress, from cocktail attire to the couple wearing denim shorts and t-shirts with big logos on them.

We saw Citrico's refuse to seat people back in January--they were in shorts and tank tops--and it was not all that warm. :confused3 So add Citrico's to that list.

We were told "business casual" when I booked our res for Jiko in January. When I asked the Disney defination, I was told "nice" shorts or jeans, collared shirts for men. I responded "so, basically you are trying to avoid the "daisy duke" shorts, with the tube top and flip flop style". The CM laughed and said "yeah, pretty much".

So you say Anne and I don't doubt that an overzealous CM may have not liked someones looks, but as another poster stated even at CG it still isn't uncommon to see t-shirts.

Dress clean and comfortably and chances are there will be no problems, if someone says something politly ask to see a manager...You'll eat.

I wore a t-shirt and jeans to California Grill, on my last visit and was not alone (probably at least 50%). I was dressed that way at Jiko's as well.

ground control to major tom...thanks for the update! too many people are being scared of this "dress code" crappola when it is obvious that disney has no intention of enforcing it.

it's wdw for heavens sake, go...enjoy...it's vacation...or at least a great night out!

Don't cancel your ADR at Jiko. It is a wonderful restaurant and the food is great. We ate there last summer and dressed up a bit. Sun dresses for me and my DDs. Khakis and a polo shirt for my DH. There was only one other party in the whole restaurant dressed like us. Most of the other patrons were in t-shirts and shorts. We even spotted a few baseball caps on some of the guys.

For lack of a better term, Jiko is more "elegant" than CG. T-shirt and jeans just would not feel right to me there.

I find the facility at Jiko to be more elegant than CG but not the clientele. If anything Jiko is way more casual than CG and as shown here CG is still pretty darned casual.

The dress code is much ado about nothing.

I do agree that it is more self respect than Disney rule enforcement.

We had dinner at Jiko about a month ago and "business casual" seems appropriate. As a "guideline," it doesn't have to be strictly enforced and you should be okay in anything presentable. By the way, the food was fantastic!

I wore nice khaki colored capris and a dressy T-shirt with sandals to Jiko in October.
