Dress code at Flying Fish?

I have read in threads that people were told that the dress code at the Flying Fish is "business casual". I wasn't told this but am curoius what Disney's version of "business casual" is, since it can mean so many different things. I searched on the Walt Disney World website but didn't find anything.

I am travelling with a friend and his 2 boys.Their usual attire is T shirts and cargo shorts. Are cargo shorts ok? Should I make them bring a polo shirt?

They're fine. The wife beater T's aren't appropriate nor the ripped up sequined tanks with shreads hanging all over them.

Today, while making an ADR for my son and his girlfriend, I was told that California Grill attire was "business casual". I asked if nice shorts with a collared polo shirt was appropriate and the CM told me that shorts were not considered business casual. So what's up? Can he wear them or not?

We went to Flying Fish last summer and the guys all wore nice shorts and a polo type shirt and the girls all wore casual summer skirts or skorts and we fit in just fine.

I believe "Bermuda-style" shorts and a polo shirt are fine. I've certainly seen a lot of them!

That CM was wrong!! '"Dress shorts" are part of the WDW business casual code. T-shirts are not part of the code. However--the "code" is more of a guideline/suggestion than anything else, and rarely enforced. You'll see all sorts of dress at Flying Fish (and at all other "signature" restaurants).

Should make the observation that CM's giving out wrong information is not helpful--nor is the absence of anything about the "dress code" on the WDW website.

Does Disney have the dress code anywhere in writing? I only ask because everyone seems to have their own interpretation of it.
Dress codes work so much better when it is clearly spelled out what is and isn't allowed.

But as we see, it does not appear anywhere on the Disney website, and CM's who take ADR's often don't mention it, or get it wrong. Or add their own spin on it.
And as we also see, it really isn't being enforced.
