Dress Code at California Grill

OK, honest truth from 12 years of observation.....

Yes, there is a dress code. It's there in the EVENT someone shows up half naked, wearing an "I eat human children" T shirt :).
All personal opinion - arrive clean & neat. There will be no issues. As with every WDW SIG.... they GET that you are on vacation. Use your best judgement to fit in, and not offend others.... which is probably your standard way of doing things :).

It's not 'men may be asked to remove hats' it's men WILL be asked to remove hats. I have been told that hats aren't allowed to be worn every time I've been there and have had to remove it before they let me on the elevator. You can keep your hat with you but must not wear it. Odd rule but they are very firm about it.

Why is it considered an odd rule? Hats are not appropriate at dining tables (unless said table is an outdoor picnic table and removing it would cause a sunburn). Men should remove hats in doors and at the singing of the national anthem. Your odd rule is my manners.

Sorry just hit one of my pet peeves
:)

Some places you should dress for. This is that place. If your dressed worse than the wait staff that should be a clue......

I'll never understand the anything goes look at certain places.....Sweat pants are not for going out to dinner wear........anywhere.

Once we always dressed like this.....

Take a page from the elderly.....you will never see them dressed like they just left the gym or like they just crawled out of bed....\

Years ago, when one ate at "the Top of the World" I would agree with you. Today, when this restaurant caters to resort casual guests, I think your example of dress is off. I will say that I miss The Top of the World atmosphere.

Back when it was actually a dress-up supper club with 'name" entertainment"--long gone I am afraid.

My partner and i are getting married the day we are at CG. I feel we are going to be very over dresssed when we go for our dinner

You will not be overdressed!

It's always better to be overdressed than underdressed, anyway. We never wear park clothes to a restaurant, unless it's in a park. DH wears dress shorts or slacks and a collared shirt, and DD and I wear dresses, even if it's not a signature. We always like to get cleaned up and put on fresh clothes before dinner anyway. It just makes us feel more comfortable.

I loved it when it was Broadway at the Top. That was my first time to have Strawberrt Sop as an appetizer.

I liked it even before that--when Rosemary Clooney, etc appeared live. We saw Billy Eckstein there--great night.

Wrong word maybe but I think it's appropriate as well. I'm not as uncouth as is being implied.

The thing is, it's odd for Disney restaurants which was all I was trying to say. I don't know another, other than an obvious place like V&As that is as rigid as CG. If people don't get this rule firmly enforced elsewhere then it will feel odd to them.

My husband and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary while we are there, and we have reservations for dinner at CG. I fully intend on looking better than I did on my wedding day (even getting my hair done at the Grand Floridian), and my husband will be in his usual button up shirt with khakis. You're celebrating a big day.. I'm sure you will both look amazing! And I agree, don't let that deter you at all! :) Congratulations!!

We dressed up for my birthday dinner last year - ended up in a corner with many other 2-person tables also celebrating things. I loved it, never felt overdressed, and the staff all recognized it was a special night. Had a total blast.
