Hi all - Has anyone gotten their dress cleaned or spot treated between their actual wedding day and MK photo shoot?

The way my dress is bustled under (to form what looks like a bubble hem), the train will surely get dirty. I'm afraid that when it's un-bustled for the MK photos its going to have a black "stripe" across it.

My dress is silk, which is very delicate and difficult to clean, so I am looking for a trusted professional in the area who might be able to clean in the short timeframe. So, anyone who ships dresses out for cleaning and preservation won't work. I need someone who has the facility to clean it locally.

Has anyone else done this? Do you have any recommendations?
I appreciate any help you can provide. :flower3:
Thank you!

i'm not, but i understand what you are saying about the bustle. still, i don't think i would do it as a) it costs ~$160 and b) carolyn allen's says they do send it out to clean. i wouldn't trust my dress, especially overnite, to a place that didn't frequently clean fancy gowns or specialize in wedding dresses.

maybe someone else will have better info, but we just got our tux fitting here in orlando yesterday and did talk briefly to the gentleman there about dress cleaning.

hope that helps!

The thing is, your dress is going to get the most dirty at the MK shoot. I picked up a slightly gray edge walking around Epcot all day for our wedding and DP, but after the MK shoot, the edge was almost black.

I know you're concerned about a stripe on the train, but they shoot from so far away, I'd be surprised if it even showed up. And if it does, they could Photoshop it out for you.

Just a thought... :)

as a dry cleaner who used 2 send wedding dresses away to a specialist and as some1 who will be in the near future wearing a wedding dress I personally wouldn't. Silk is hard to clean because the fabric is so delicate and any damage cant be rectified easily. Also the cost is pretty expensive, If I were you I'd leave it.. like some1 said earlier they can photoshop it :)

Thanks for the comments and feedback. I'm thinking its best to just leave it alone and see what happens!

I hope it wont get terribly dirty, but we've got a long day - Ceremont at WP, Reception and ADH, additional 2 hours of photos around the Boardwalk, then DP at Epcot. I guess we shall see what happens!

thanks all!
Leah

My dress didn't get dirty at all during the wedding day and we took pictures everywhere around he WP and the Beah Club. I tried to pick it up whenever we walked somewhere so it wouldn't drag.

But it got filthy at the MK shoot. Black spot everywhere and it got wrt bc they spray down the floors during the night and everything was wet whenwe got there.

Hey Leah-

I had my "bustle" up underneath my skirt as well (you can see in my siggie pics)and had the same question prior to my wedding. I remember talking to Karen Chandler at DPS about it. They airbrush out the black from the dress in your photos so you don't have anything to worry about. I suggest not bustling your dress until you get into the ballroom/reception location. If you want pics around w/ it bustled than just lift your skirt up as you walk it to reduce the dirt. And utilize the wrist strap under the skirt.

My gown was Italian Silk Satin and the bottom literally was BLACK by the time all was said and done, but every single inch of dirt came out with the cleaning.

Hope that puts your mind at ease a bit. If you have any other questions let me know. :goodvibes

Hey Kelly!

Thanks for your note! That does help put my mind at ease! Although, I'm not crazy about the idea of it getting black! :rotfl:

Seriously though, thanks very much! :flower3:
