Hi,
Got a couple of quotes for a Disney Cruise from the Dreams Unlimited service which seem quite good value.I was just wondering if as a UK customer paying by credit card we have the same protection as we would using a UK company.

Mick.

Mick

I used my credit card with them but mos tof the credit cards I have give me their own protection now for shopping on line anyway. I recently come form and IT solution background and I can tell you that givingin your details over the internet is known to be safer than - paying over the phone with ccard or in a restaurant where your whole number comes up on the chitty that you sign.....go figure.

Dreams do have secure site status I believe anyway.

Hi Sam,
Thanks for your reply.I was really more concerned about the financial security of the company (we have abta or atol protection in the UK)just curious if anything similar applies if I use a US company in the unlikely event there is a problem.

Mick - I have used Dreams Unlimited three times in the past, but that was about eighteen months ago, so I don't know whether they have changed their payment system more recently.

At that time all payments went directly to Disney - nothing actually went to DU, they were agents acting on behalf of Disney and processed the payment, but my cc statement showed Disney as the recipient.

As an aside, I was really pleased with everything my DU agent did for me (especially the $$$ she saved me!), despite initial reservations about handing it over to them. Now that we are DVC members I haven't needed to use an agent, but I wouldn't hesitate to use DU again if I did.

Sam - that's reassuring info about paying by cc over the internet vs. by telephone!

Here's a quote from the Dreams website to back up what Hilary has said:

"Since we don't charge your credit card, and since you never pay Dreams Unlimited for your vacation, you would never have to worry about this. When making your reservations, you would provide us with your credit card information for booking. We, in turn, provide that information to Disney. Disney then charges your card. This way you are assured that every payment you make towards your vacation is applied directly to your reservation".

Dreams are also certified members of the CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association).

No sure if this organisation provides any insurance like ABTA though.
