Dreams Unlimited or Small World Vacations?

I'm considering booking a resort stay (maybe package) through one of these companies and wanted to hear from others who have in the past or are currently booking through them.

What did you like?
What did you not like (if anything)?
Would you book through them again?

Anything else you want to share would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Deb*

I've used Dreams Unlimited before and am using them for my upcoming trip as well. Never had an issue, they were always professional, prompt and on the ball. They do PS's for you, which is HUGE plus for me. I feel very good about spending my money with them.

I've also used Small World Travel. My first experience with them was great, my second was pretty bad, and in fact so bad it motivated me to go to Dreams Unlimited. Of course, I believe I just got stuck with some bad circumstances, and that overall they're probably pretty reliable. I was willing to stay with them, but had gotten comfortable with Dreams Unlimited in the interim and now don't want to go back.

Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions, but also do a search on these boards (if you haven't already) and see what the overall experience with each has been.

Good luck!

I've booked 3 trips through DU and am in the planning process of a 4th. I can't say enough good things about them. They were very detailed for my first trip (planning itineraries and making PSes), but have allowed me to take the reins for this trip since I prefer to be in control. ;) They've been great at getting discounts and setting up hard-to-get PSes and I'd recommend them in a heartbeat! Also, food for thought, if you like this board you might want to go with DU. They're one of the sponsors and help make it free! :teeth:

I'm planning trips #5 and #6 with DU right now (back-to-back cruises on Wonder, with nights before and after at various WDW resorts) and have been thrilled with their service. They've found discounts for me and applied them without my having to worry about it, and answered all of my questions quickly!

I highly recommend them.

I am currently planning my first trip with Small World and have been happy with the job my agent, Diana, has done.

That being said, apparently DU takes of PSes, which is a huge benefit. Also, they sponsor this board which is easily the best resource I have come across for Disney planning.

Our trip in 2002 was booked by small world and was great the next year when I wanted to book a cruise and some days at Disney world they seemed like they weren’t interested. So I found this board and turned to dreams unlimited. I AM VERY SATISIFIED with the help on my questions and the discounts that are constantly applied when they come out. :bounce:

I am booking my second trip through Small World. I have no complaints at all. Definitely responsive to any questions we have had, and saves us from making the long distance calls and sitting on hold. The last time we went, in 2003, we got in on that Fairy Tale deal thing (8 days for the price of 4), so everything was pretty cut and dry. This time we booked WL using our AAA discount, and we are waiting to see if any discounts come out. Our agent has said she will be keeping any eye out for any discounts and will apply them, so we'll see how that goes.

But so far, we have no complaints.

I have used Leigh with Small World twice. She is wonderful. She gives very personal service. You can either call her or do your booking totally online. She is always back to me quickly. This trip I had booked a cruise through another source which she knew about but she still bent over backwards to help me plan the first leg of our trip.

She is the greatest. If you would like to PM me, I'll give you her email information and you can see for yourself.

I requested a quote for a cruise in March from each of them. They came back with the same price that I got from the Disney website. Maybe I'm missing something. :confused3 I'd love to use them if I could get a better deal than the one I'm getting.

We are hoping to use DU for our next WDW holiday for two reasons:
1. Looking at discount codes history, I will be away on holiday (not WDW) when discount codes may be realeased for our travel dates
2. Hoping they can make a hard to get PS for me (Chef Mickeys Christmas Day)
I have read and read about them and everything I have read has been postive.

It comes to down to free services - DU, Dream Come True, Small World, etc, will watch for discounts and apply them when they are released. They will make priority seatings for you. They help with shore excursions. They make the phone calls so you don't have to. They do a lot of little extras that you would need to do yourself. All of their services are free of charge.

I'm booking my holiday through Small World Vacations and they are terrific. I have no complaints at all and in fact, I'm bowled over by the service, friendliness and efficiency of the vacation planner I'm dealing with. She's also going to make my PS's for me and gives me loads of advice. Definite thumbs up.

i used small world vacations for our last trip ad all i can say is that Josephine was wonderful. since it was my first time using a travel agent to do everything for me i was really a bit nervous letting someone else do the important stuff for me. well the service she rendered was exceptional. she aswered all of my questions, even called me to make sure everything was alright. booked amtrak for us, made ps's and even applied a room code when it came out without even tellin us. she also tried to make a reservation for a fireworks cruise for us.

she is helping us again this trip and i can definitly reccomend SWVacations for your needs :teeth: :teeth:

Hi - I am using Dreams Unlimited for the 1st time for my May vacation and Susan has been excellent. It is SO nice when I need something to pop off a quick email then forget about it...when I check the next day my answer is waiting. The fact they make PS's is a huge plus...Susan has been making them every day my dates become available so whenever I check my itinerary it has already been updated. I am hoping they will be able to apply codes for me; as I am on west coast I would have to get up too early too often to watch for them myself! Good luck!

If there aren't any discounts available you will get the same price but they will keep looking for discounts for you. Saves me the time and headaches worrying about codes. I booked something that I could afford whether discounts become available or not and may will upgrade if good rates are available later on

I am using Dreams Unlimited for our next two trips. I could not be happier with my experience with Dreams Unlimited so far. Sue Ellen has been Wonderful! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Just want to say thank you to all of you for posting. Sounds like both companies for the most part are excellent. Hope you all have a magical day :wizard: !

After reading all your wonderful replies about small world I thought I would give them a try. Well I filled out the quote form, and finally received my quote 3 days later. No problem with the 3 days, I indicated I wasnt sure what I wanted in some areas. So I emailed my TA about certain questions and got an naswer the next day. First off the really push the dining plan advising it is a great deal.. I was also informed that they "could" book room only and then switch to a package later if no good deals came out but it would take alot of work as it is differnt CRO they have to go thru. I was then informed--they WILL NOT do PS for anyone who is not on the dining plan. SO--the way I felt after reading the email--now no flames they are just MY feelings- is that unless you are doing a package they just arent interested in doing anything for you. Like I said just my opinion and feelings :sad2:
