Dreams Unlimited Question

I got a quote from Dreams Unlimited for Sept 28- Oct 7 9 day hoppers w/ dining and they quoted me $2789.26. My reservation w/ disney is $3161.27. This is a savings of $372.01. How are they getting it cheaper. Should I take this or wait for a discount from disney. Also, since I have paid about 1/2 of my trip will I be refunded everything or will I lose the $119 trip insurance fee. If so, then my savings will only be $253.01. Maybe worth the hassle but I don't know. I've never used dreams unlimited before.

I cancelled with Disney and lost the trip insurance paid. I lost money, since it was the same price (if you are getting it cheaper, make sure you know why). They are usually the same price. I did this because I was on vacation during the announcement of free dining and wanted to make sure they had my back. Honestly, I hate not being in control of my vacation. I would like to be able to call and see if I have any codes attached to my name and feel like I'm "bugging" her when I ask her to check. I won't do it again that way. She really didn't do anything extra for me. I made my own ADR's, etc. I would just keep the one you have, unless you really need those extra $. Just MHO. My TA is Carolyn and she is fast at answering my questions, but very curt! I'd rather do it myself! Hope that helps.

you will lose your insurance if you cancel.

I would double check and make sure everything truely is the same. DU may not have quoted you with insurance so that could be 119 of the 372 of difference anyway. Often when these things come up where people question why one is different we usually see that there was something left off the cheaper reservation...but there could have been some Disney/DU magic involved in your DU quote. i'm playing with numbers now and will post back if I figure anything out...

Ok, I can't see where the difference is. They said 9 day hoppers, dining and insurance. I think I'll stay with disney since I really like being in control.

Another question. I got the historical discounts off the mousesavers website.

8/19/06-9/30/06 package discounts for general public 7/10/06, exp 8/18/06

Does anyone know what the room-only discount and package discounts were last year. Was is a % off or something.

I'm really not seeing anything, but DU when pricing your vacation could have found a code attatched to your name (the kind you are supposed to receive postcards/emails about and a lot of times people who never received one will call and find out they have one attatched to their name). So you could always call and ask Disney if there is any discount for you.

last years package discount during that time was probably the free dining - i can't remember if there was anything besides that offered.
