Dreams Towe

Any sign of them starting on the next tower? Which one it is... and what side of the building (East or West) they are beginning on?
We are hoping to stay at Magic Tower Eastside next month and definitely don't want one of those claustrophobic closed-in rooms... I much prefer the balcony and open air occasionally... ;)

I did see a photo (on another website) of the Wonder Tower beginning the renovation. Don't know which side - sorry! So you should be safe to stay in the Magic Tower!

There was absolutely no sign of construction when we were there June 12-17. Not sure when it's starting again, but it didn't look imminent. Maybe you could call and ask?

I'm sure you've also heard that they'll soon be reconstructing the entire pool are to make it a water park. I think it will happen at the end of August?

We just got back yesterday and stayed in the Dreams Tower. That entire building is completed now. I did see blue walls up around the left side (looking at it from the pool) of the Wonder Tower and they had the walkway blocked off crossing over the waterfalls to the entrance of the building, (this is just after passing by Crocs-n-Bites) So now you will have to take the walkway to the right side of the pool to get to the front entrance of the Wonder tower.

p.s. The waterfalls are still up and running:thumbsup2

This was our second stay in a new room and my opinion hasn't changed. I love them! :lovestrucThe size of the room hasn't changed except for the extra foot or so from where the "balcony" used to be. The entire wall is now windows that overlook either DTD (this stay) or the pool (January visit). The room has more modern looking furniture, flat screen TV, and super comfy bedding! The bathrooms have their own mickey touches in the fixtures and shower tiles. There are double sinks which is great when everyone has to get ready at the same time (the toilet is private from the bathroom). Now this is just for the Dreams tower. I remember our rooms in the wonder tower were a single sink, toilet and shower all in the same room.

This was DH's first stay at the DLH and he was impressed with the room. He loved the view of DTD and liked watching the fireworks from the room with the music coming from the TV.

The only thing I missed was the early morning coffee in the "lobby" area. The rooms have coffeemakers in them now, so I guess that's why the coffee wasn't available to the hotel guests in the Dreams Tower. I didn't bother to go to a different tower to see if it was offered there or not.

I was surprised to hear a knock on the door around 9:15 pm. It was a nice CM who asked if we wanted turn down service. I thought that was only for concierge level guests. :confused3I politely declined and she smiled, reached in her apron pocket and gave me a huge handfull of disney chocolate coins. That was soo nice of her and my kids and DH snacked on the chocolate while watching the fireworks.:goodvibes

Oh, here is a tip for those that are staying in the Dreams tower. There are 2 sets of elevators. One set is in the main lobby area and the other is down the hall near the side entrance. There were a couple of times when large groups with luggage would be waiting for the main elevators, so we would walk down the hall and grab one of the others without waiting more than a few seconds..

When we were on our way home, DH told me that he had a great time and understands why we stay on-site as much as we do. He really liked the DLH room, pool, DTD and taking the monorail to/from the park..:thumbsup2

This is exactly why we are staying at the DLH hotel in July.
It will be our last stay there... ever.
Our entire family is horrified by those monorail slides... and the removal of the waterfall and koi ponds that are such an original memory to the hotel area. :sad2:

And I'm really hoping we get a room that still has the balcony/opening windows... want very much to be able to open the doors and lean the head out and just take in the the entire area instead of viewing straight ahead through a blue-tinted glass. :headache:

Thank you all for the replies about the Wonder/Bonita being renovated next - that is WONDERFUL news for us!! :woohoo:

Anyone stay in the Magic/Marina tower lately? What are the rooms like? Elevator situation??
(We never stayed in that tower before - always the Dream/Sierra or way back the Garden rooms...)
...Keeping our fingers crossed for the perfect room there! :)

I really wish that they could find a way to keep the waterfalls... The koi ponds are there, but all of the fish have been removed.

I will miss them.

DH got coffee from the Magic tower on Monday morning. We stayed at the Dreams Tower this past weekend too. We had never stayed at the DLH before; we usually stay someplace along Harbor. We loved, loved, loved our stay. We thought it was odd to get turn-down service also (we were on the 7th floor, non-concierge) but my boys loved it.

We stayed in the Dream tower in March and noticed that there was coffee in the Magic tower (none in the Dream, however when we stayed there, the main lobby area of the Dream was closed for the refurbishment). We also got turn down service each night (8th floor, non concierge).
