Dreams Do Come True in New Orleans! (a POFQ/birthday TR)

I was excited to see you had started another TR, I loved following along on your last one and Can't wait to read all about this one :goodvibes

Great update! I love riding Soarin' and seeing people's first reactions as well. My little nephew was delighted by the experience each and every time we went! It was the best part of my Disneyland trip next year!

I will have to check out Innoventions and the activities next time... for some reason, we never manage to make it there.

I will definitely have to check out Scat Cat's the next time I stay at POFQ. Thanks for the tip~

Hey everyone. I apologize for being absent a couple days. Friday at work was crazy so I wasn’t able to do any updates on the TR.

I will post some replies and then hopefully will be able to start a new update about our first day at the Magic Kingdom. :)

It’s good to have you back and I’m glad you’re enjoying this new TR!

Hi – welcome aboard! I really want to get out to Disneyland sometime and experience the rides there!

Next time you are back you’ll have to check out Innoventions. It houses a lot of fun activities and we didn’t even get to half of them on this trip.

Scat Cat’s is fun. Elliott is a great musician and is very personable as he made it a point to speak to everyone that was in the lounge listening.

Love the window decoration! did you use a Cricut?

Hi – thanks for the compliment on the window decorating. I actually didn’t make the banners (just the poster) someone else made the banners for me, so hope I didn’t mislead anyone. I wish I was that crafty to have made them! :thumbsup2

We were awoken by the phone ringing at 7:15 AM - it was Stitch telling us to get up. We all got up and got ready and ate a quick snack in the room. We got to the bus stop around 8:30 and waited just a few minutes for a Magic Kingdom bus. We got through security and ticket turnstiles just in time to see the train pull up at the Magic Kingdom train station. We were the last people to get through the ticket turnstile at the machine we went to so we were wedged between the wall of people in front of us and the ticket machines behind us. We patiently waited for the show to end and then once the throng of people was allowed to walk under the train station we slowly made our way to Main Street.

Behold, Main Street in all its glory:

We walked by the Crystal Palace to get to Adventureland and from there cut through the restrooms to get to Frontierland. Big Thunder Mountain had been the first destination of choice, but when we passed by Splash Mountain and saw a wait time of 5 minutes we decided we’d start there first. We figured we could dry out on Big Thunder Mountain if we got really wet on Splash.

DD after "splash down":

DD and I rode in the 3rd row of the boat and DH sat by himself in the last row. He got a LOT more wet than we did for some reason. After the ride DH had to make a stop at the restroom so DD and I hung around and took pictures of the vicinity:

When DH rejoined us we headed toward Big Thunder Mountain:

I embarrassed my DD by skipping and singing “Old Yeller, what’s up Yeller” since that song was playing as we were making our way down the ramps to board the ride.

I rode by myself and DD rode with DH. After we got off DD wanted to ride again, so we got back in the queue and rode it again – sometimes you just gotta take advantage of 10-minute wait times! :) This time DD rode along with me.

So after our mission to ride BTMRR was accomplished I asked what was next on the list. It was unanimous – Haunted Mansion! We took the little path along the water and made our way up to Liberty Square.

Continued in next post where 999 Happy Haunts await us...

Hi - I was going to post an update yesterday, but I couldn’t get PhotoBucket to cooperate with me and my computer kept locking up.

I hope everyone who lives/has family in the VA area is safe. I felt the earthquake at work yesterday. I felt the building shaking but obviously at the time wasn't sure what it was - as that was my first earthquake experience. Everyone on the floor was coming out of their offices/popping out of cubes asking what was that?

When I left off last, we were on our way to Liberty Square -
We arrive at the Haunted Mansion and see we have a 10-minute wait ahead of us.

I was really excited to see the new queue area first-hand since I had read about it on the DIS boards.
I also wanted to find the wedding ring in the pavement that people had reported finding in their TRs. So we head into the Haunted Mansion and took the “scenic route”.

IMG_2494.jpg

The organ was so cool. For those who haven’t seen it yet, you place your hands on the keys and it plays the Haunted Mansion theme song as air blows out of the pipes.

I like how they have Ravenscroft as the “maker” of the organ:

After some walking around, I spotted the ring in the pavement! I called DD and DH over to look at it:

We walked around for a few minutes and looked at everything before heading into the ride. My DD always wants to read all the tombstones and asks what does it mean/or how did they die? I think one of the tombstones read something about “pushing up daisies” and she wanted to know what that meant. ;) So after all the tombstone epitaphs were read and explained we finally joined the other foolish mortals and got in line to go inside.

After the ride was over, we had to stop and look at the other tombs:

IMG_2514.jpg

And I just had to stop and point out Mr. Toad to my DH because I had seen a picture of his statue in a TR by mickeystoontown. :)

IMG_2515.jpg

After we saw everything we wanted to at the Haunted Mansion we headed to Fantasyland. The first ride there was the carousel. For some reason this is still DD’s favorite ride in Fantasyland and she wants to ride it over and over. DH usually waits for us while we ride. DD found the horse she wanted to ride and got on.

After the carousel had been ridden we stopped and got FPs for Winnie the Pooh to ride later and then we walked tot he Teacups for a spin before lunch.

Continued in next post…

Sounds like a great morning in the Magic Kingdom! It's funny, I remember asking my parents what the epitaphs meant when we would go to Disneyland.:rotfl:

Ooh, you found the ring!! I'm going to look very hard in October to see if I can find it.:)

We got to Teacups and had a spin:

After we got off the ride we spotted the White Rabbit so DD wanted to get his autograph.

IMG_2527.jpg

We then decided it was time for lunch so we went to Ray’s Starlight Café for some food. (I’m not sure why I didn’t take any pictures in here). I got the turkey wrap and fries, DH got a hamburger with fries and DD got PB&J with fries. We all got some hot cheese off the topping bar to dip our fries into - it was a satisfying meal. We all made a stop at the restroom and then it was time to visit Pooh and use our FPs.

We hadn’t seen the new entrance yet so we took some time to walk around before we got in the line to ride:

After our ride in the hunny pots we went back to Tommorowland and rode the People Mover:

It is nice just to sit and relax on the People Mover! After our relaxing ride we headed for the hub:

IMG_2551.jpg

And went to Adventureland for as Pooh says, a “smackeral” of dole whips. We sat down and people watched while we enjoyed the creamy frozen pineapple goodness.

After our snacks had been consumed we intended to go to POTC, but DD saw the sign for the Fairy Meet and Greet and we saw the wait time wasn’t too long, so we went inside. It was a nice respite from the heat waiting in line until it was our turn to meet Tinkerbell and which other fairy would it be?

It was Rosetta:

Coming up next POTC and the rest of the day...
