Hello all,

My fiance (recently registered as EpcotsFigment) and I decided that for us, it will be a Disney Wedding or it just isn't worth it :).

I am newly registered, but have been lurking for some time --- more recently obsessing over all the wonderful information here!

We are looking at the Wishes package on the Disney website, and were completely overjoyed to see the Magic Kingdom listed as a wedding option :rotfl: ! After reading so many people here recommend the book by Passporters my fiance bought it for me last night (and has since spent a significant amount of time trying to pry me away from it...).

Anyway, I got to the part where it said that for a wedding in the Magic Kingdom there is a ceremony-only cost of $10,000 -- my heart sank :sad1:

It makes sense though, of course --- that kind of event MUST be kept special (And it explains why I didn't see more couples posting pics here of MK ceremonies --- still looking for such pics if anyone has any)

My main question is .... is it possible to have a no-frills wedding with ceremony in the Magic Kingdom (who needs flowers when there is a CASTLE) a reception and/or dessert party for 20-25 guests and stay under $17,000 (including ++) ?

Ideas / suggestions / info highly appreciated! Will be calling to speak to a consultant within the next few days ... but I know the lovely people here are a wealth of useful information :)

Thanks in advance!
-Alison (already discussing back-up venue options)

Michelle just got married there in April, check out her PJ! She used outside vendors and DIY'ed a lot! (virtuousgirl) There are several girls coming up soon, but I believe Michelle posted her pictures already of her ceremony etc. There are a few things that are included in the 10k I believe, but take a closer look at Michelle's PJ for the specifics. She did a podcast with Carrie (author of the passporters book) about the wedding as well! :goodvibes

Thank you so much! I will go and search for her PJ right now :D

I am getting married there in august and I do not think I could make it under 20k. The trouble is that you HAVE to use Disney Photography for in park venues. And if you are going to get married at the castle, you really should add video for your time there - $1200. I am having a brunch [$60 range pp] at Living Seas though and that adds transportation costs as well as photo package. The dessert party at [$32 pp]. I have 28 people coming to the ceremony and a few more coming to the DP. Realistically if you went to a ballroom like michelle and a lot of DIY stuff, i bet $22-25k is more in the ballpark.

Question: WHEN are thinking?
I ask bc they can only give you a date at maximum 6 months out!

Wanted to let you know that the $# did NOT include travel costs, my dress, tux rentals, and I am doing my personal floral with an outside vendor - seashellsinbloom.com

When: Thursday, May 1, 2014 (our ten year anniversary) --- I'd hope this date wouldn't be too much in demand

The number I am looking for also doesn't include travel/lodgeing/attire, so we are on the same page with that. Also, I am looking into buying a fabric bouquet from Cultivar on Etsy (too new, can't post links)

$22-25k sounds about in the right ballpark from what I have seen. I think we are probably going to start saving like mad, beg Daddy to help, and in the meantime plan two separate ceremonies (dream ceremony by the castle, and still awesome ceremony at one of the beach locations)

Thanks so much for your input! I plan to read through your PJ tonight and I will follow along :D :wave2:

It is not about High demand so much for the castle but what they have planned there for a number of different events. Also seemingly only have tuesday and wednesdays open. Waiting for the date sucks the most! So they would probably check on dates for you in Dec 2013... I'd call and start asking though!

That's my plan! I just read Michelle's (dreamsdidcometrue) journal and .. EEK .. Getting a date sounds TERRIFYING! :scared:

Anyway ... Tuesdays and Wednesdays, that helps. I would be totally willing to go a day or two earlier (since ideal date is a Thursday). I need to start making phone calls! Now where did I see that number before ... its got to be on the website somewhere :thumbsup2
