Dream or Wish....Fall '22...what do you think?

Okay, looking for the hive mind to weigh in. We're looking to book a cruise for next fall. We have cruised 2x on the Dream - and we LOVE it - but we'll be traveling with 4 family members (my sister in laws, my mother in law, and my 6 year old niece) who have never been on a DCL cruise, at all. They'd like to do a 4 or 5 night since it will be their first time cruising, but we'd likely add a few days at WDW beforehand. So, here's the dilemma.... do we book on a ship that we *know* we love but that we'll be leaving out of Miami instead of PC OR do we book on the unknown entity of the Wish b/c it's docked in PC? My primary hesitations with the Wish are that the main dining options look rather underwhelming. Not sure I'm sold on having Frozen songs interrupt my meal or whatever is happening in the Marvel dining room. I think my niece will like the Frozen dinner but I'm fairly confident everyone else will find it annoying. The downside to Dream, of course, would be the inconvenience of Miami vs. PC.

Since I'm the one who sold everyone else on the idea of cruising, I'm just nervous about picking the Wish and then having it be a let down.

Thoughts?

We plan to sail on the Dream in 2022, not the Wish, because the Wish just doesn't look that appealing unless one sails concierge, and we can't afford to sail concierge during school holidays. We're not going to WDW, but if we were, we would get a one day, one-way car rental to get from Orlando to Miami. We're Texans, so a 3-4 hour drive is no big deal to us.

Pick the ship you are familiar with the most; in this case the Dream. Why subject yourself and the family to the unknown? If they love Disney, they can book whichever ship they want to try on their next cruise. Better to be the hero than the fool.

I agree with Cruising Engineer. If it were just me and my mom or my friend (who I know will like whatever Disney ship we board), I'd choose the Wish and give it a try. If I was traveling with others who like Disney but not LOVE Disney, I would travel the extra distance for the Dream. The Wish looks like a great ship and I'm excited to give it a try but the theming of the main dining rooms seem a bit heavy handed. I'm not sure I'll enjoy a gimmick in 2/3 dining rooms. Of course that's just based off of what I've seen and it might not feel as heavy when I get to experience the ship.

IMO the Wish is built to spend more money on top of your stateroom and for parents who want to sacrifice so their kids can slide down a slide to the kids club.

We will see but at this point I am still searching for why someone should be excited for the Wish other than its "new" which is nice I guess for those with tons of trips under their belts.

The Wish seems to be targeted at the hard-core Disney fan who wants as much Disney as possible. That doesn't seem like you, so the investment of an extra 2.5-3 hour drive to get the boat you'll probably enjoy much more seems to be the right decision. (I'll bet the Dream will cost less as well...)
