I will be cruising in two weeks. Will I be notified ahead of time if we cannot go to Castaway Cay? Our day there is scheduled to be on October 19. Thanks!
Prayers to all in the path of Hurricane Matthew.

I would bet that if it is a cat 4 hurricane when it his CC.............then it will be off limits to guests for 3-4 weeks while they rebuild, repair and make everything safe for cruisers again.

Look on the internet at what cat 4 hurricane damage looks like. Also, keep in mind that a 15-20 storm surge would probably complete cover the island with water.

We are on this cruise as well and have pretty much resigned ourselves to the thought we will not be seeing CC. I'm not even sure about Nassau actually with the current path, so am wondering if Cozumel works out well if we will head there too like the 10/3 sailing. I'm also wondering about PC, some have said that it has been closed for many days sometimes for repairs and this hurricane looks like it could do similar damage.

At this time totally wait and see and remaining hopeful that the airport schedules and PC will be OK by then. Really feeling for those sailing on the 10/7 who are totally up in the air on what is going to happen. I'm frustrated for them.

I wouldn't worry too much about PC. It was closed in 2004 for 11 days when Hurricane Jeanne made landfall as a Cat 3 just south of PC going from east to west so the port took the full brunt of the storm for a long period of time. As long as Matthew stays offshore the port should have lower wind speeds for a shorter period of time which should result in less damage.

We are on the 10/17 sailing on the Dream too. I'm not too worried about being diverted to other ports if CC and Nassau aren't available due to damage. What I'm really stressed about is Port Canaveral! If it sustains damage and the ship cant dock there for us to board, then what? Do they cancel the cruise or is there another port they would send us to? Being from CA I'm used to earthquakes, not hurricanes! :confused3

We'll know more in a few days.

In 2004, DCL bused guests to Ft. Lauderdale while PC was closed. Hopefully the port won't sustain any damage that would prevent it reopening on Saturday or Sunday.

I am on the same sailing as well, and also caught up in the 2004 hurricanes that made a direct hit on Castaway and damaged the port. They were up and running at the port within a week. Castaway Cay was only closed for 1 week, and they took a direct hit. It looked like a war zone but it was opened. So don't count it out yet

I am also on this sailing and was caught up in the 2004 hurricanes that damaged port canaveral. It was up and running in about a week. Castaway Cay took a direct hit and was badly damaged. And they were up and running in about a week. It looked like a war zone but it was functioning. So don't plan on alternatives yet. Lets wait and see.
