Dream May 16 - 20, 2016

Glad to be joining everyone! This will be our 4th cruise on the Dream...starting to lose count with DCL overall, but we've sailed on every ship, all over the world with Disney.

It will be me, my folks, my grandmother, and my aunt and uncle (their first cruise). And yes, I've only ever cruised with other adults - no kids :thumbsup2

If anyone has questions, I'm happy to help if I can ::yes::

This is our first DCL! We are spending 5 nights in DW and our kids are "planning" the trip (fast passes, etc.). What they don't know is that our "departure date" we will be boarding the cruise! Any advice as to what are the things we should do on the ship? Our plan is to hang out at Castaway, but i haven't decided about an excursion on Nassau...any recommendations?

Best recommendation for pre-planning things you might want to do on the ship is to find some recent navigators online for a similar itinerary and browse through. Remember that things are always changing, but you can maybe spot some things that you want to look for. There's really something for everyone - things for the kids, things for the adults, and things for the whole family.

One thing to note (not that I expect it would change too much about activities) is that our cruise will be ending with a sea day instead of Castaway Cay, which is not the norm. At least that's what the website is showing for the itinerary.

As far as Nassau, that's the one thing I can't provide any advice about, as we've never gone ashore there. It's always been a quasi-sea day for us :)

Hello, my name is Andrea and this will be my first Disney Cruise. I've been searching information about the cruises and just read about the fish extenders and would love to join it. I am from Brazil and I didn't understand these initials (DH DS). Can anyone explain it to me. I will be travelling with my husband and 6 year old son. Thanks everyone!

Ok it seems that we do not have an FE group started so I'm going to begin one. I don't get on Disboards that often so if you feel you want to join and I haven't responded My email is makethegirlsmile@aol.com

The initials stand for DH (Disney husband), DS (Disney Son), DD (Disney Daughter), etc. A list for abbreviations is available on this site.

Hello everyone :wave2:

This will be our very first cruise! My sweet MIL is treating us! (I LOVE my MIL ) So it will be her, me, DH, and DSs (at the time of cruise) 18, 12, 9, and 8. And actually, DS 9 will celebrate his 10th birthday on board. We'll also be celebrating DS18 graduation!

I was excited to see all the boys that will be going!!! I'm only a little concerned about my DS18 and his having a good time. He's more of an intellectual and a bit introverted (although he talks my ears off!). So, I'm really hoping he'll either meet some people that he clicks with or that he finds some activities he enjoys.

Anyway, I'm excited to join in, and look forward to getting to know y'all. Plus, I love any excuse to be here on the Dis! ::yes::

Hello! Looking to join the Fish Extender group for our Cruise? Has a group been started for sail date of May 16? This is my first Disney cruise so I am new to everything and looking to be a part of the Fish Exchange. Please let me know how to join :) Can't wait to meet everyone so excited

Hello, Is there still room to join this FE group for the May 16, 2016 cruise on Disney Dream?

Unfortunately, posts have once again been removed from a number of Cruise Meets threads including this one.

PLEASE review the Cruise Meet Policy regarding Cruise Meet and Fish Extender programs. - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3353477

Links to Cruise Meet discussion/Fish Extenders other than those on the DIS may not be posted or offered by any other means (PM, email, "search" directions, etc.).

Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine still managing meet and FE discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM.

For those posting in this Cruise Meet thread to join a FE, if no one comes forward to organize a FE for this cruise, anyone can organize the FE right in this thread.

Enjoy!

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Hi,
This is our very first Disney Cruise, it will be me, husband,my son(3), SIL,BIL,nephew(7)Niece(4). We are extremely excited. I have been reading blogs and getting a little overwhelmed. Any advice is appreciated! My family would like to participate in the FE but not sure how and what exactly you have to do.
Thanks in advance:)

Getting so excited- it's almost check in day!

Anybody planning to do a mixology class- might be a good place to meet up?

Also planning on doing the castaway 5k (if I can get my running back up to par!).

Started on my FE gifts. It's all coming together.

How are we organizing the FE group? Not sure how it works, without breaking rules.

How are we organizing the FE group? Not sure how it works, without breaking rules.

FE groups were handled on the DISboards for years without the use of outside sites. In fact FE groups were started on DISboards.

Setting up FE group

There really are no "rules" as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/favorite character/favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

At some point the list will "close". Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will either post the list (usually via a conversation is best, as that's more private), or directly on the Cruise Meet thread, to confirm everyone on it is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about"anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped"at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as the reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a "pixie dust" list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their "final" list. Be sure the "pixie dust" list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

The other "biggie" is no other social media sites are allowed to be linked or search directions posted as to how find that other site here on DISboards. Please read this:
http://www.disboards.com/threads/im...uise-meet-and-fish-extender-programs.3353477/

I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations and don't have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test board to post and up your post count.http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

Hi,
My family and I are currently booked on this cruise, but it's not 100% official we'll be going on it.
I'm just curious if any of you would be interested in doing a "meet-up" for the Atlantis Aquaventure.
(Please remove this if I'm not allowed to ask this.)

Thanks,
Robert

Counting down the days my daughter Leila and I will be going for our first time celebrating our bdays together she will be the big 5 I can't wait to meet everyone
