I am thinking of getting the platinum dreammaker as it has 2 wishes that can be used as dining. We did the dining thing 5 yrs ago and had so much left at the end of the week, like 400 dollars. Alot of places didn't take it , rainforest cafe.i don't know if we didn't know how to use it.i want to use it just for the food. For 6 people it is 1900 dollars more than the dream maker package.Would we really spend 2000 dollars on food or is it a waste?? thanks for any feedback

I don't know. It sounds like an awful lot of money for food. Will you be staying for a full week? Are you accustomed to eating large meals at least twice a day? Will you be eating at mostly sit-down restaurants? I think you'd have to to get your money's worth.

Also, if you don't use your "wishes" for dining, can you use them for something else? Maybe if you can determine your family's eating habits and plan accordingly during the week.

Have you considered going with the DreamMaker Gold
You get 3 meals a days included in package (plus alot
of extras. There are very few restaurants excluded.

Is there anything in particular attracting you to the
Platinum pkg?

We will be using the plat. package in Aug. and it includes 3 meals a day, you don't need to use wishes. It also includes childcare and more. It is the same as the grand plan that was out in 2002. I am concerned about not all places accepting this plan. If anyone has a list of places that don't accept the meal plan that would be great. I would hate for any surprizes to happen after I make my PS and arrive.

Maybe they mean the silver package... it has the 2 wishes per person per day that can be used for meals - in order to get your $$$'s worth with the wishes (at least on the silver plan, I'm not sure if it's the same for the others) you need to decide if each person is going to be able to eat roughly $33 worth of food per wish (there are some places that require two wishes for the meal, so in that case, $66 per person for those meals)

JMHO

I am also currently debating booking the silver plan /or not. It would mean an additional 1295.00 and that would be for 5 nights and not quite 6 full days.

We used this plan in Oct 2002, and we ate ALOT !!We used our wishes for lunch and dinner most days, with one character breakfast thrown in. You definetely ARE NOT getting your money's worth for a breakfast.
I admit, it was fun to order an appetizer, entree and dessert at every meal, but most of the time it was way too much food for us.

I am thinking of planning this trip on "the sly" as a surprise for DH and my kids.......and it sure would be easier to swing sneaking the money out to pay for the trip with it being 1295.00 less.

I was just doing some figuring, and even in generously allowing $50 per lunch meal and $80-100 for supper meals (for 4 people) I came up with 680.00.Thats HALF what the silver plan would cost us.

Hmmmmm.......

We are doing the dreammaker gold in March. With our disney club discount it was roughly 1500 a person including flights for 6 nights 7 days. If you like to do the tours and make use of the recreation options I think the gold pkg is definitely worth it.

We've booked the Gold plan for May.

Mickey's Backyard BBQ
Victoria and Alberts
Swan and Dolphin
Downtown Disney Resorts
are some of the places not included

I'll check my notes-I know there are a few more
Dansyr-have you got you list handy?

I booked the Silver plan for my last trip and for my upcoming trip (2 wishes per day). I did the math and it IS cheaper per person but ONLY if you eat at upscale places.

I figured the cost of starter, entreee, dessert, soda and tip that we would pay at places like CA Grill, Citricos and Jiko to the Silver Plan of Starter, Soup/Salad, Entree, Dessert, Soda and Tip. Some of these meals can be $40-50 for the Entree alone! An average of $26-30 is not unreasonable JUST for the Entree.

So if you look at it that way, we would save hundreds per person. Now if you are eating cheaper or at middle cost places such as Rose & Crown or Le Cellier, it may not be worth it. Adding kids into the mix will also lower your average.

My advice is to go to Deb menu site. Click on the places you will eat at, figure out approximatly what people would eat, and what it would cost on both plans.

It IS a lot of food. The first time around we have lunch and dinner paid with wishes and were SOOOOO full they had to roll us on rides. Now most of the more expensive places are 2 wishes. I figure we will just eat a more sensible lunch to cut costs and graze at dinner. We still end up ahead.

Thanks!
