Dream July 19, 2011 - 5 Night Bahamas!

Just booked this cruise. Was going to do the July 15th but my scheduled would not let me do that.
So it will be me (mom) and my DD who will turn 18 on July 12th she wanted to go after her 18th birthday so she could go to the adult pool and the spa. She is also graduating from high schoool in June and when I asked her what she wanted to do for her graduation she said she wanted to do a Disney Cruise and have alone time with me.
This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise, Sept 05 Magic 7 day, Dec 07 Wonder 4 day.
We are in a guaranteed 5E. Not sure what that means.
My DD doesn't know when we switched that she will be on a 5 nt. cruise. :lmao:
I want this to cruise to be full of surprises for her. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm excited now!!

we would love to do the fish extender thing. We did it on our Dec 07 cruise and had so much fun doing it.

Welcome to our cruise group! Things are just beginning to heat up on the board as we get closer to our trip. I was just looking tonight on when we need to pay so I can start booking! I have a couple of birthday ideas for your daughter. On all of our cruises it's been my DH's birthday. I often order the birthday stateroom decorations, they are fun and are up on the 1st day. I've also done door birthday magnets - lots of fun ideas on the boards for that too! Another idea is to order her a gift basket from Shirley - I'm sure Shirley would be very creative with you for her big birthday!

Oh, also - guarantee 5E means that right now you don't have a stateroom assignment yet. When you do get your stateroom it will be at least a category 5E, it could be higher. It all depends on how they assign rooms. Don't worry about the guarantee status, many of us are like that in this group.

Great Donnetta! I've added you to the list. Do you know your cabin number?

Sure, can you give me the following information: Names, ages, cabin #

Kelli

Haley age 18, celebrating her high school graduation and 18th birthday
Vickie age mid 40s

don't know our cabin # yet, as soon as I find out I can let you know.

Great! Thanks Vickie - Congratulations Haley!! There are a lot of us that don't have cabin numbers yet.

I just discovered magnetic paper... ordered some for cruise magnets, but am coming up with all sorts of ideas for teaching! :teacher: How have I survived 19 years of teaching without this stuff??!!:confused3

Hope you all have a restful and enjoyable president's day weekend!

I realized I have to work through the easter break:headache:, which is a huge bummer to me, so this is my next vacation. I've got it marked on the calendar and am counting down the days! And realized payment in full is due in just about 2 months. That makes it seem closer somehow. I'm already planning what to pack too - I'm desperate to get out of the sweaters and boots for the warmer weather clothes. I heard that its supposed to be close to 70 here tomorrow, so I think that wish is coming true:thumbsup2

Do we have any sailors in the group? My family is talking about hobie cat races on Castaway Cay. We're thinking the first afternoon we're on Castaway Cay. They want me to order medals for proof of bragging rights....

I also read up on the excursions and am taking surveys from everyone in the family. Not that it really matters, since I book for everyone in the family so we're going to do what I want:rotfl:

Are there any other plans for group gatherings? I'm way behind on reading the bb and have to catch up. I really want to do a tasting - wine or martini -we could all plan to head to the same one.

I discovered it before our last cruise - it is fabulous isn't it??!!!

Same for as far as temp goes today, are you in VA by any chance? My youngest daughter actually put on capri pants today for school. :confused3

magnetic paper???? Well now I have to go to Michael's.

I checked prices at the michael's here...it was pretty expensive. Googled it online and with a free shipping code I also found online, I got 25 sheets for 28.00 +tax.:yay:

I also would like to meet up with people on the board to say "hi" and put faces to names/ID's. I however, have not even remotely looked at things to to in either CC or on Nassau... My plan is to research :surfweb: that over spring break.

Keep hoping for warmish weather!! We are not freezing here in Seattle/Tacoma...but we are REALLY wet and soggy...need the sun to DRY out!:goodvibes

Budget is an issue for us too...but I will participate as much as I am able whatever is decided. From the pictures in the posts I have seen... it looks like people get tons of stuff no matter how it is organized.

I am a firm believer in do what you are comfortable with. If some people go nuts so be it. We have done a postcard from home in the past as well as a candy on a separate day and then something 'piratey' for pirate night. Just do what you are comfortable with is my theory. (And you are free to kick me out too if you want:laughing:)

Pretty close - a little north. It was gorgeous!

Noahsmom, how many staterooms are participating in the Fish extender right now? thanks

We're participating -and we're 2 staterooms out of 3 that want to participate. I don't think that is on the list.

magnetic paper???? Well now I have to go to Michael's.

I found it at the office supply store. I forget what I paid though.

For pirate night our girls have skull & cross bone t-shirts we got at Target and the guys wear Hawaiian shirts. (Have you figured out we're pretty low key?) A lot of people look absolutely fabulous in their pirate costumes though.

And I saw a question about formal night. My dh & ds have tuxes -by luck- one was 19.99 -so they do wear them but my dad wore a collared shirt - no tie -with a jacket and it was fine.

And can I just say 5 months and 1 day until our cruise???!!!!! Yippeeee! Its going to be here before we know it!

At this point there are 17 family groups signed up for the FE. I don't have cabin numbers for most so I'm not sure how many cabins will be participating. Once people get cabin assignments we will have a better idea. Some people may have multiple cabins but only 1 FE hanging. Currently there are 17 men, 27 women, 12 boys, 16 girls.

Dustermom - I don't have you down for 2 cabins yet. Do you have your cabin numbers? If so let me know and I can get that noted.

So exciting to seem some activity on the board. Next week I will be in Phoenix for work so I won't be checking in much.

:rotfl:Haley, my almost 18 year old wants to know if she counts as a girl or a woman. :rotfl2:

I'm 40-something and I still want to be called a girl! So we can switch;)

I've been having a great time finding stuff on line - fake tatoos - and fake hoop earrings:woohoo: dh is just rolling his eyes. whatever.

Has anyone else started watching all the Dream videos on youtube? Wow there are some great ones. We have an inside stateroom and the virtual porthole is adorable. Also the Enchanted Garden looks beautiful. Mini Golf too - and I can't believe how many adult clubs/areas.

One problem though - I just read you have to be 48" to ride the aqua duck. I just measured my little one - 45" - uh -oh! Don't worry she just told me - I'll grow 3 inches by July so I can go on it. She's my wild one - loves speed and isn't afraid of going fast. I never dreamed she wouldn't be big enough to go on it. Does anyone know if that is correct? She can't even imagine not going on it. I need to find 3" platform water shoes or something.
