Dream given by my daughter!

Just wanted to share a memory of a dream my daughter gave to someone. We were at the Christmas Party last year and had our curb side staked out about an hour before before the parade. Just when the parade started, a severely handicapped child pulled up behind us in his wheelchair. We really didn't notice him for the first few minutes, until we heard his mother speaking to him (we all turned) and saw her caressing him and telling him not to worry that Santa was on his way. Before I had a chance to blink, up jumps my daughter and tells his mother to scoot him right in (of course we all got up then) and gave the family our space. A couple minutes later, Santa is riding by us and looks down at the little boy, points directly at him and says " and a very, very Merry Christmas to you my little sweetheart" with such a caring and loving voice. (Now that had to be the REAL Santa!). That little boy had the most marvelous grin on his face. Of course by then, we are all wiping tears. His mother hugs my daughter and says "you don't understand what a wonderful gift you just gave my son". Now THAT was a magical moment! But what she didn't realize was that I too received some of that magic by seeing what my daughter did.

I made it maybe halfway through that before the tears started to roll! God Bless your wonderful daughter. You have taught her well.

What an awesome story! You've given her a great start in life, and you must be really proud!

Now, the trick is to remember that the next time your daughter does something really dumb or against the rules ..... :rolleyes1

Give yourself a pat on the back too. She is learning that type of behaviour frome someone. ;)

Myst

You have me in tears. What a wonderful story. You should be so proud of your daughter. You raised her well. :thumbsup2

That was sweet of your daughter! I guess the mom didn't know that WDW has special areas roped off for guests in wheelchairs. :confused3 Or maybe the areas were already full...

It's nice to see some children still get raised with compassion and manners.

It always surprises me when I get the look of disbelief after my 2 yr old says thank you to someone!!! I think shouldn't that be a given!!!! I think my first words were please and thank you!

What a caring daughter you have.....not many would do that! With a special needs child myself has been hospitalized about 100 times since birth (in his short 10 years of life) it would have been best thing to him!

For all his hurt and for all he endures, there are people like your daughter....that for a fleeting moment, these children are granted normacy....a chance to be kids!

You raised her right! What a loving child you have!

Charleyann  :grouphug: :woohoo:

I wish, no I pray, there were more people like you. You have taught your daughter courtesy, compassion, and humility. She will go far in life with these traits, and you should be proud.

This is real Disney magic (pixie dust), and this is the kind of behavior we should all emulate.

I thank you all for your praises. She is a wonderful person. (OK, yes she has her 'moments' but we all do, don't we?). Then I guess that would make MY mother (her grandmother) pretty proud of how she raised me!

You must be very proud and good job to you for raising such a wonderful, caring child. :thumbsup2

How kind!! What a lovely person your daughter must be -- I'm sure you're very proud of her!

Thanks for sharing this sweet story!
