Dream fireworks question

We will be on the Dream in October. Our verandah cabin is on deck 8 midship Portside. Can anyone tell me which side of the ship is better to view the fireworks? We'd prefer to see them from our balcony as opposed to a public deck, as we will have a 4-year old toddler.

If I need to switch our cabin to starboard, I will! Thanks to those who can provide insight. For those who have a favorite public viewing area/deck, I would appreciate hearing from you, too.

Fireworks are shot off the starboard side. Not all verandahs can see them, even on the starboard side. DCL does leave letters in some verandah rooms on the starboard side to not be on your verandah during the fireworks (safety issue with fallout).

We prefer deck 12, starboard side just aft of Currents bar.

We're partial to deck 13 forward, starboard side near the concierge sun deck entrance.. It's away from the crowds viewing the pirate show and a good view of the fireworks.

Last year we were on deck 9 on the starboard side and thought we would try to watch the fireworks from our balcony instead of being up there with all the crowd since we had seen the pirate show 2 other times. To our surprise we were not able to see ANY fireworks from our balcony. I even stuck my go pro our beyond the balcony and still was not able to see anything. I have to say, it was very disappointing not getting to see them. So if I had any advice for you, go get out of your room so you can watch them. Don't be like us and miss out on the fireworks, unless you want to take the chance of not seeing them.

I have had no problems seeing the fireworks from a verandah on deck 5 forward on the newer ships.

Don't forget, you can always create your own fireworks on any verandah, you just need to keep the kids in the clubs for a while.

We were Deck 9, midship. Couldn't see fireworks. It could be depending on if your forward, midship, or toward the back of the ship.

Because of the way deck 11 cantilevers out over the decks below it I suspect it would be very difficult to get a line of sight to the fireworks from any of the upper deck balconies (7-10). The extended balconies on deck 5 probably have a good shot of seeing them.
