Dream February 26, 2012 4-day cruise

We are in Greensboro so not too far from Raleigh (about an hour). We are so excited about the cruise.

Oh how cool! We are sailing on the Dream for our first cruise on Feb. 26th with me, DH and our sons 7 and 9. We are from Reidsville,NC 30 minutes north of you! Can't wait to cruise!

I know what you mean. Last Saturday we got 3.5 inches in October!!
It was alittle weird trick or treating this year with snow on the ground
Just as long as it doesn't snow the day we fly down before the cruise

Hello fellow cruisers!

I spoke with concierge this morning to arrange our meet and greet. I think I'll just ask concierge to have everything ready so we don't have to worry about anyone schlepping something on the first day. They suggested an open time of 2:30 - 3:30. That will allow time for us to get in our room, concierge to deliver food/drinks etc. and time for you all to explore the ship before the muster drill.

Please everyone let me know if this will work for you. Of course no one is expected to be there for an hour. We really just want everyone to be able to stop by, say hello, and meet their fellow passengers. If we want to tighten it up we could do 2:30 - 3:00 or 3:00 to 3:30. The concierge indicated a party of 20 can comfortably fit in the suite but larger groups are iffy. But the deck is as large as the suite, assuming the weather is good I think we can fit another 20 with no problem.

Please let me know your experiences from previous meet and greets. I've never attended one.

I think all we'll ask for is a smile and a warm welcome from everyone! Still awaiting details from concierge on what we can provide. At the least we'll have drinks and some fruit kebobs. I am hoping they will be able to get some kid friendly food ready that day, but I understand it's difficult that day due to everyone running around like a chicken with their head cut off trying to turn the ship over. So we'll see

Disney is quite stressed over my having a party in my room even for the 30 minutes prior to sailing. So Please, please, please, confirm for me if you plan to attend.

Hi Everyone!

We're getting so close! We have a busy few months of holidays coming up and busy with travel for work, so I am trying to finalize the Meet/Greet plans. My count has up to 54 total people possibly attending. I know that most people will end up getting too busy, or just stop by for a few minutes to say hello, so I am planning on for half that amount of people for food.

I am planning to have the following delivered to our room for the reception:

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Platters
fruit platter
cheese platter
Crudités platter
Mickey rice krispy treats (I was thinking 20ish. But I can order more if anyone wants some for their rooms as they are a special order item.....)

I wanted to get the cheese and Crudites just in case anyone boards late and doesn't have time to pick up lunch before the reception. If you all think just an all dessert option is better I can change it to that as well. There is a nice petite fours platter we can look at.

If anyone wants to chip in I can also order a seafood platter. It has alaskan king crab, shrimp and scallops, all cold...... (It's 159.00 per platter to feed about 15 guests) There are also more upscale appetizer items, but they are a per person cost, rather than a per platter cost. Since this is a casual stop by type of thing I didn't think that would work????

If anyone wants to bring anything else please let me know what you would like to bring. We'll have a microwave, so popcorn or something would be great. I personally love chocolate covered peanuts and m&ms with popcorn. I am way to easy to please

We have found that supplying drinks is just WAY too expensive. So I'm sorry to say we'll have to ask everyone to bring a beverage if you are going to want one. Sorry again. One would think that the food would be the problem with cost!

It's taken me some time to learn all this stuff...I need to chat with my husband but we might be interested in the FE if you are still accepting sign-ups for that also.

Welcome!!!!! So glad you decided to join the discussion group. If you are interested in FE just email me at trish@wimmerclinical.com. I believe we all agreed we'd have sign-ups until the end of the year. I have all of mine made already but sure don't mind making a few more!!!

We also have a girl that will be 7 at the time of the cruise. She's in first grade now. Maybe they'll hit it off and will spend some time in the club together so we adults can have a little time alone Last cruise several years ago I couldn't keep the kids in the clubs for more than 15 minutes before our beeper started going off :-(

Oh boy…and I was doing so well putting this cruise out of my mind and concentrating on work...but not now. By the time this trip rolls around I'll have reverted mentally, comparatively speaking, to a 10 year old on Christmas morning. I pity the DW...

I am already wishing away Christmas so we can move to February. I know that is absolutely horrible. I still want the religious portion of the season, could care less about the presents. None of them could possibly hold a candle to the cruise!

SO So sorry everyone .... i taught i would keep it between me & Pat what happened but ... i will share since i find it so not like me and hilarious .... in a way ...

I havent post to the board because i taught nobody was and that they had removed our roll call ....

I was checking every few days for this one, and 2 other cruises i will be taking soon. Everytime, nothing for Disney dream, in either feb 27th or march 1st ( we do a b2b ).

Yesterdays i decided to email pat and ask her what happened to our roll call ...

She replied almost instantly providing me with the link...

As i was thanking her and was getting to tell her that i would check up on my cumputer setting at home & at work .. i light came accross my head ... I WAS NOT LOOKING AT THE RIGHT WEBSITE !!

I was checking on cruise critic web site , as i had forgot about this disney only site !!

Believe me, i am always, well usually.. in the past ... ahead of everything ! really dont know what happened, must be turning the big 4-0, made me loose some part of my brain. Oh well, i will not brag about it to DH , as i will never hear the end of it

So nice to be back, just read everything i missed. I will answer some post in another reply ...
