I was just reading on another thread about getting $500 reward dollars if you use your Disney Visa to pay your down payment. We just purchased last week and didn't hear anything about it. We did use our Visa for the down payment regardless.
I would love to know more! Any info?

I believe that was a special they were running back in Oct/Nov of last year.

I just spoke with Disney Visa, and they said that the offer was still good.
My questions is, do we have to do anything else, other that put the down payment on the card? For example, should I call my guide and ask if we need any additional paperwork to be filled out on his end to make sure we are going to get the rewards?

In my opinion, that's more a question for Chase than DVC. There was no special paperwork--Chase was simply set-up to issue the reward points based upon a DVC purchase using the Disney Visa.

According to the fine print in the offer, it expired on November 30, 2007. I suspect your Guide is mistaken about getting the bonus $500. You would still be eligible to receive the 1% rewards and 0% financing for 6 mos.

Random thoughts for those considering using a credit card to purchase:

Be sure the card carries a high enough credit limit - credit limits vary and many Disney Visa cardholders have fairly low limits.

I believe there is a cap to the number of reward points/dollars you may "earn" in a calendar year. Obviously, the rewards depend on the size of your purchase and how much the card is used for other things. Some use their card for business and thus reach the rewards limit each year.

My experience is that the Disney Visa cards carry high interest rates. Those who plan to use a credit card and cannot pay if off within the first billing cycle should carefully compare the credit card interest rate with Disney's financing rate or any other financing that may be available to them.

If they've extended the offer it would sure be nice if they let someone know about it! I would definitely call back and double-check the information you were given.

When I bought DVC in October, we just had to give the guide our member rewards number or some such thing (it wasn't the VISA number, it was a number we had to get from Chase) and he put it into the system and we got the 500 points. We also got 0% financing for 6 months. However, we did not get the normal 1% points for the down payment because that was part of the deal... so, even though the 500 points is a good deal, it's not as good of a deal as it sounds. We did get the 1% points for the closing costs.

I would love to know more if Disney Visa told you that it was still going on. We just did an add-on and would love to get this applied towards it!

We did this when we bought in November (Nov. 13th) but my $500 STILL hasn't shown up on my Disney Rewards Card. I called DRC to see if I had anything pending and the customer-service-dude was no help and actually was a bit incredulous that anyone would be offering a $500 bonus like that.

I didn't know if I should call Chase next or my DVC Guide (whose phone number I can't find right now).

ETA: I found a toll-free number for DVC and the nice lady gave me the toll-free number for my guide - who happens to be out of the office until the 31st. I left a msg with him and will wait for his return call.

I put down my deposit last September 29th. My 500 bonus points appeared in my December visa statement. I hope this helps.

SweetMinnie - thanks for your timeline - that does help because that lets me think that it should post in February I just want it to be there so I can have the points at the end of my March statement so we can use them when we go to WDW / DCL for spring break in late March / early April. So I guess I'll have to wait another 31 days to find out now.

What were the details on this offer? I can't remember seeing any of the particulars. Did it apply to add-ons? Did the purchase have to be over a certain dollar amount? Help me out here.

Our Disney Visa statement closed today and STILL no Disney Reward points for our add-on in November. I called our guide a month ago but he was out for several days. I left a detailed message and didn't get a call back -- but you can bet I'm calling again tomorrow to see if he can follow-up and make sure he wrote down my reward card number correctly -- I want those points! I checked to make sure we hadn't gone over our $750 limit on earning Rewards in a calendar year - we had 300+ so it seems like we should get at least 400 of them. I'll be way aggravated if we don't get them because that's the only reason we did our downpayment on the Disney Visa was for the $500 incentive. We're cruising in early April and were planning to use those Reward Dollars to cover our gratutities and incidentals for the cruise plus our few days at WDW (SSR) beforehand.

Anyone else who added on in Oct / Nov still waiting on Disney Visa Rewards???

We just did another add at AKV. We were told that the Disney Visa deals have expired. No $500 and no differed interest for 6 months.

If you took advantage of the previous offer, you needed to provide your Guide with a special number from your billing statement. Not your account number or your rewards number, but a number printed on your statement during the promotion period. Some folks gave the wrong number or the Guide didn't submit the info correctly to Chase.

If you haven't received the award by now, you should contact your Guide.

We did give our guide the number from the card that is used specifically for the rewards and it doesn't expire til Dec. 2008 - he made sure to ask for the right card. And of course he needed the Visa number for the charge for the downpayment, too. I'm betting on it not getting submitted properly to Chase - so I guess I'll be on the phone with our guide this afternoon.

I spoke with our guide today. He said that our rewards thing went in on November 30th and they were told it would take three billing cycles. So we'll have to wait to see if it is there when our billing cycle ends March 21st.

We just bought DVC this week and I found out about the $500 Disney Visa rebate. I called to apply for the card to see if I could use it for my balance, but they did not know what I was talking about. Said that I would need a special 800 to call to find out. Just wondered since some of you used it if you wouldn't mind share the phone number? Thanks.

The Chase Disney Visa $500 promotion ended months ago. Those who purchased their first DVC contract or did a substantial add-on with the Disney Visa were to receive a $500 gift card from Chase.

If memory serves the program began around September 1st and in order to participate you had to be an existing Disney Visa cardholder. The promotion ended around November 30th.

That said, there is another promotion running now where new buyers can get a $500 gift card if they can provide the name of a current DVC member to use as a referral when they buy. That's for points at Saratoga Springs only.
