I set Dream Cruises to record on our DVR and was surprised by how many different shows they have done. For those not familiar, this is a one hour program that follows a particular ship on a particular itinerary showing highlights of the ship, the port and the food. We have seen a few of the shows and noticed that there are no shows covering any aspect of DCL.

Here is a list of all of the episodes (now in season 4)

Curious if anyone has watched this program or if anyone happens to know why they have not done DCL. Yes, I do realize there are a lot of lines they did not cover, but really thought they would have done at least one Disney ship by this time.

Anyone else watch the show?

looks like a great show. ive never heard of that channel. i dont believe we get it.

I love watching that show! Makes me feel like I'm back on a cruise...it's also great for DH and I to watch and say, yeah, that boat is too big/too small for us...no, we don't want to go there...ever, lol. I think we've spied a Disney ship in the background on a couple of the Caribbean itineraries. As far as no DCL ships on the show.. I wonder if it's partly the cruise lines have paid to be part of the show and Disney had no desire to do so.

We have DirecTV. Not sure who else may carry the channel. It's a very strange line up of shows, really mostly about wealth. They have one about buying yachts, another about buying private planes, one about living like a celebrity, you get the idea. I stumbled across Dream Cruises flipping channels one day. It's really the only thing we watch on that channel, although if you are ever curious what the inside of some mega mansions look like, you get a glimpse.

I discovered this show a few months back and have become addicted. Yes the disney ships have been in the background at some of the ports. The reason I believe disney has not been featured is that it is really just a commercial for the cruise line and disney does there own commercials.

We are the same way. We've decided we will not likely sail on some of those luxury cruises that only have 150 people on board. Seems way to small. Very surprised to see so many MSC cruises featured and not sure it makes me want to sail with them.

The show is on a channel of the rich and famous. These re high end cruises.
Some are, most are not. We saw one episode on Carnival, several on Royal Caribbean and several on MSC, all mainstream cruise lines. When I think about it, there are a number of cruise lines that have not been featured in an episode, so perhaps its not a big surprise that Disney hasn't been either. They try and make the destinations look very exotic, but some stops have been Cozumel, Grand Cayman, San Juan, etc.

Other lines that I've noticed haven't been featured include Disney, Norwegian, Princess and Celebrity.

The last three episodes we watched from Royal Caribbean were Voyager class ships. The featured cabins were the Royal suite, so I guess they were showing the highest end option on these mainstream cruise lines.

Disney has its own Cruise show on TLC (I believe its called behind the scenes with DCL) I haven't seen it recently but they used to play it frequently. It was very fascinating to watch what goes on behind the scenes and what it took to create and make the various ships. I wonder if it might be on you tube...

If you like those shows I’d recommend checking out Mighty Ships/Mighty Cruise Ships as they do much the same. Pretty cool stuff and something to get you in the mood for cruising.

It might have to do with who owns the channel, & related competition with the Disney company.

Anyone see the episode of Disney's Fairytale Weddings where it took place on the Disney Dream? I didn't see it but a friend sent me some pics. They held the ceremony in the Atrium with chairs all around....how can they do that in the Atrium?

That's something I had not considered, so I did a little research. The channel is owned by Herring Networks, founded in 2004 and based in San Diego. Robert Herring Sr. is the founder. The channel also carries the One America News (OAN) Network which was founded in 2013 to provide news to a political demographic of conservative right.

There doesn't seem to be an obvious conflict of interest that would preclude a Disney cruise from appearing on the show.

It's probably more a political thing. Disney as a company is far more progressive than someone who formed a news network to cater to the conservative right would likely want to have on - and I would be surprised if Disney wanted to be affiliated with them in any way.

Hopefully just stating that did not violate anything, but mods, feel free to delete if it did.

I am trying to get a recording of Season 1 Episode 7 "RCI Navigator of the Seas" Did you or anyone by any chance save this recording? I was told by a friend they saw us on it and really want to see for myself, but I can't find it anywhere online or on the AWE network currently. They only show the schedule for the next week and it's not listed.

Like the weddings they do in the parks at Disney--very early in the morning or very late at night.
