Dream Class Ships really feeling outdated

With the Wish being the shiny new thing in the fleet and the Magic/Wonder having been updated more recently the Fantasy/Dream are really starting to seem dated to me.

For me I’d like to at least see a new restaurant in the vein of Rapunzels or Tiana’s and maybe a refresh of some of the adult spaces (Evolution comes to mind the most). But what are everyone’s else thoughts?

I was on the Magic last August, the Dream in December, and the Fantasy in June. I don’t think any of the ships feel dated. I think there are parts that could do with a refresh (like The Tube on the Fantasy, so many of the overhead lights need replacing) but I like the classic look.

And honestly I love Enchanted Garden, it’s so pretty.

Interesting perspective from the OP.

We recently sailed on the Dream and then the Wish within a 2 month period. I can't say that the Dream felt dated - on its own or as compared with the Wish. Just my opinion.

In June we just sailed Princess spanking brand new ship to Alaska. I still prefer Fantasy/Dream
class. Bigger is not always better. These new ships are like floating cities. I prefer the classic
Nautical lines and themes. Of course any ship can use a refresher.

It will be interesting to see the next ship in the Triton class if any changes.

We've been on the Dream in February and last August. I don't find it out dated at all. It's still as nice as it was in 2011, or even better with Satellite Falls added. I definitely don't want a dinner show added to any restaurants. That is 1 reason I'm shying away from the Wish. I want dinner to be dinner. If I want to see a show I'll go to a show. As it is we do all we can to avoid Crush. Leave me alone and let me eat. ;)

Sailed on Dream in July. I was disappointed we didn’t do the animation in the restaurant. I thought that began on the Dream. We were on Magic in January and enjoyed doing the animation.

While I’d like to see one of the restaurants updated with a slightly stronger theme, or at least refresh of the theme, they didnt feel dated to me last month.

Animation might only happens on cruises 6 nights and longer so everyone can do it. The default show on the Dream and Fantasy is the Crush show. (On the Magic & Wonder is the color change show.)

Had the Dream ever done the animation show? I can’t remember if it actually did that 7 night itinerary that was planned at one point.

Sailing the Dream after NCL Encore, I did feel DCL decor to be dated. But really, really dated - like an old-timey ship. Not rundown or neglected.

The staterooms on MSC Seashore were cool and neutral. But public areas on these two non-DCL ships have a Vegas-glitzy, hodge-podge style with no overall, unifying theme; which is more appealing to me.

In January, our Magic cruise was a 5 night cruise, and had the animation. We really haven’t been on the Fantasy very much, but we have quite a few souvenirs of the animation drawings. I was just surprised and missed it on the Dream.

We are Platinum, and I have over 35 DCL cruises, and there’s obviously lots I don’t know! ::yes::

We've been three times on the dream, once on the magic and once on teh fantasy. We had animation on the magic and Fantasy but never on the Dream.

To OP's question, we've sailed on the dream in the last year and you could have fooled me into thinking it was a brand new ship. Everything was super polished and nothing seemed dated. I am wracking my brains to think of what they might want to refurb but nothing comes to mind. Perhaps the "Believe" show could be updated with some new show scenes from more recent movies?

We were on the Magic in November 21 and they had the animation magic on the 5 night cruises which was the first time we had ever seen it on anything shorter than 7 nights.

We had the animation Magic last week on the magic (8/10 Sailing) and the updated "Changing color Show" which has received a refresh per the dining room staff onboard. I noticed some updates but more or less the show was the same.

Has anyone on here actually seen the Animation Magic on the Dream? I wonder if they still have the capability or if they moved the tech to the other ships...

We have yet to sail on the Wish. Looking at the staterooms, I have to say I miss the nautical touches on the Original 4 ships but we are keeping an open mind. When I sailed on the Dream in June, the ship was possibly in the best shape I've ever seen it.

The Magic last week was in pretty great shape in the guest areas but sadly our staterooms really needed a refresh. (Spots on the carpet, cracked tiles/grout in the bathrooms, Broken Showerhead, lingering odors in the Toilet/Sink combo that would not go away.)

A "refresh" of the Dream's spacious adult areas to make them cramped and inconvenient, like on the Wish? No thanks.

People who want "shiny" can sail the Wish. Those who prefer quality can sail the Fab Four. Works for everyone.

I'd like new menus fleet wide. But im more than happy to sit through a meal and not have some lod dressed up as a princess running round whilst I try to eat. I'm dreading dining on the Wish and having to sit through two "entertainment" dinners.
